first king cake of the season this past week from a local bread shop. blueberry cream cheese

 

I have never heard of king cake. What is this apparently delectable delight?

 

comes out yearly during mardi gras time. typically a bread baked and stuffed with different fillings. covered in icing. there are different variations that can make a huge difference in the taste and quality of it. i find the bread is typically the biggest factor. getting king cakes from bread shops and donut shops are typically the better ones.

 

I'm sure we don't want to know what kind of filings and icings are in and on your king cake.

 

Our neighbors go to New Orleans every year to celebrate it and they have always have one sent to us via Fed Ex. Ugliest damn cake I’ve ever seen but DAMN, are they good!

it looks like a typical king cake. it won't be as good as some, but ultimately they're good. if you like cinnamon rolls, you'd prob like a king cake.
i'm not a fan of the dyed sugar on top the icing. typically those are simpler and cheaper ones. but i'm not picky and my fatass will eat any of it. you know....so i'm not being rude right?
