Had to drive to Austin today because our 4 year-old 55" Sony TV decided it didn't want to work any more. Piece of shit. I'll never buy another Sony product. It was our Family Room TV and the one I can watch when I'm eating so it was a "must replace" kind of thing. The Best Buy closest to us is the red-headed step child of Best Buys and they didn't have any LG OLED's in stock.

Got last years LG OLED Series C1 for $200 off it's normal price. Mrs. Bandito wanted the C2 but it was $1000 more - wasn't gonna happen. Anyways, the TV is so much better than that crappy Sony.

She wants to drag me out later to watch fireworks but it's gonna be in the freakin' 90's. I just want to stay home and look at my new tv.

 

Even if it is work related. Or perks of the job, depending on how you look at it. Scheduled to be on assignment from 8 - 8, but mother nature didn't get the memo and we were back at the station and sending the OT guys home by 2. We were lucky and didn't get caught in either of the monsoons, and as a bonus got fed by the sheriff's dept. Now we'll see how the rest of the shift goes...

 

Every year on the 5th of July I find empty fireworks in the park. I can’t wait for the year i pull up to the park and find a smoldering pile of ash. I keep a folding chair and marshmallows in my truck just in case

I hear ya. I am going back after two back to back weeks plus todays bonus day. Vacation was unexpectedly extended another 2 days on the beginning due to a death in the family.

So I am going back after 19 days of no work.

Tomorrow isn’t going to be fun, but at least I work in an industry where everyone I see will be happy to see me!

Cool taster boards

 

I don't have any walls big enough for it. We have two 65's, two 55's and a 45 (I think, it's an old Pioneer Plasma). I'd like a 35 for the bathroom but she won't let me.

 

my wife has a cousin that spends 5-6k every year and does them out at the WA coast on the beach. He’s friends with the owners of one of the firework distributors here so he gets his stuff wholesale and still spends that much. His “mortar board” has 25 tubes with everything fused together and tied in with usually a couple dozen other big ones for the “finale”.

I’m out in the woods, so it’s not a good idea (idiots still do). I haven’t spent my own money on fireworks in probably 10 years though…just not that into it like I was when I was young. None of our animals are spooked by it, but I’m always conscious of the ones that are… our old neighbor’s horse had to be sedated every year.

 

Most cul de sacs and neighborhoods look like a war zone for about 2-3 hours…and the mess in the morning is incredible.

I used to go big on fireworks. Worked retail/management in the industry for a bit and loved fireworks. A few years of going hard on them wound up burning me out on them for the most part. Still like a good display and think they're cool, but no desire to do my own.

 

Just got back from our city's first annual fireworks display. They did a pretty good job. It's 90 out so I sat in the 4Runner with the AC on.

 

I was just assaulted by a palo verde beetle!

I’m pissed I dropped 300 on fireworks on my way into sanibel island and they’re like totally outlawed here. On the way in the wife saw and I’m like everywhere says you can’t light em but on 4th of July you’re good. I was sadly mistaken apparently a ton of sea turtles nests and nature here they don’t want you to disturb. They had cops on ATVs patrolling the beach. Not a single person lit off even a sparkler. If anyone on this board lives between sanibel and TPA I’ll drop them off to you. Flying out tomorrow

 

Well, let’s say I’ve already roasted a few with my map torch; to which my youngest got super mad “Mexican beetles are me friend!!” So now I just need to keep it hush when I slaughter one
