I wasn't sure if you spent anytime on the Korean DMZ before 1977, but your being #1 out of 211 recruits in 1978 answered that. Prostate Cancer is something the VA considers "presumptive" if you served in Viet Nam or on the Korean DMZ before 1977.

My dad's best friend had prostate cancer from doing 2 tours in Viet Nam. My dad (Marine) did a tour in Viet Nam and now he's having issues from probable Agent Orange exposure, including Parkinsonism.

I had a bunch of college before I joined and went in as an E-3.

I was supposed to be studying for a test (I was majoring in Psychology) and was watching the evening news in my dorm room. The big story was a dude jumped the fence at the White House and was shot by Secret Service. They said he was a pizza delivery man with a PHD in Psychology. I said to myself, "Shit. I'm only getting a Bachelors in Psych. I'm fucked." The next day I called the recruiter.

I got nominated for Broadcaster of the Year fresh out of training but I was only a PFC and had no chance. It was nice to be nominated though. :)

I actually wanted air traffic control. Was sent to Millington, TN for aviation fundamentals and basic electronics. A dumb fuck dumb ass Sgt ran our barracks there like boot camp. Caused me to be late for my first air traffic control class. The 1st Sgt instructor sent me back to S-3 to get reassigned. I thank God to this day it happened. At that time only 3 Marines were getting accepted each month to Lowry AFB PMEL school here in Denver. 1979. Precision Metrology Equipment Laboratory Specialist school. 40+years later.....still at it. Making good $ Got a degree from U of Maryland during my last time at Iwakuni...extension courses.

A good looking PAC did a demonstration on ME! Small dose. Performed the injection technique . She came back 15 minutes later. I said, "No way I'm walking out of here yet!"

That's pretty awesome how things work out. I initially was supposed to go in the Air Force. My friend was an Army Brat and her best friends dad was a Chief Master Sergeant at Lackland. He said I should either get my recruiter to put a job in my contract or join the Army so I could get a guaranteed job. At the time everybody was either becoming an Air Force SP or some kind of trash specialist. He did say that if I joined, he'd come and sign me out of Basic to bring me to dinner.

My Air Force recruiter kept telling me he "knew somebody" but wouldn't put it in writing. A week before I was supposed to go in, he told me he'd give me his business card and when I got to the point in Basic where I'd get to pick a job, show it to the person in charge and they'd give me whatever job I wanted. When he did that, I went home and called the Army Recruiter.

We had an agreement that I was older so I wasn't going to all the pre-training shit they did and that I wasn't signing anything until I knew what job I was going to get. When I told my dad I was going into the Army instead, he said I should be a Journalist. My mom just sighed and told me that if I didn't go into the Army, she was gonna start charging me rent. :)

Anyways, Speed the movie was pretty big at the time and my recruiter was trying to sell me on Ordinance Disposal or whatever that was.

So I had to take the ASVAB with a bunch of 18 year-olds and when the test was done, a Sergeant comes busting in the room yelling "Everybody get in the van!" Apparently they tested and they were shipping them off. My recruiter comes running in behind him holding a half-eaten donut in one hand, his coffee cup with the other, looks at me and yells "Not him! He's with me!" That's when I knew I had a good recruiter.

I scored pretty high on the ASVAB and they sat me down at a computer, inputted my score and then this list of jobs popped up on the screen. The first one was "Tank Track Repairer" and the second one was "Broadcast Journalist." I pointed at "Broadcast Journalist" and said "What's that one?" The dude at the computer said "I don't know. I've never seen it."

So I became a broadcaster and I honestly don't think I could have had a better fit for me in the military. Training was like going back to college but with more yelling and shorter hair. I got to listen to music and have fun for at least 4 hours a day. Now if I just wouldn't have gotten sick.

First sorry to post to the crew that probably doesn't give a shit about my windows, nor should they.

    You asked for it...:p
Ok, I'll cut and paste what I posted on the local FB page..

Do not use Window World to replace your home windows.
If you just have standard window sizes, don’t want top on the line, don’t mind a messy installation that knocks the plaster off your sheetrock, and leaves glass and window parts around the outside of your house, then they may be OK.
But if you have specialty size picture windows?
They don’t do those very well.
The replacement was worse than the original window they made.
Just a heads up from an experienced buyer.
We’ve learned the hard way the cheapest, is not always the best option.
    Thanks.

They screwed up our 70X78 solid picture window.
It had a seam on the inside of glass going down the entire right side an inch from the frame.
You didn't see it if you didn't know it was there.

    Before.

My wife told me to NOT REPLACE IT.
But I was afraid of a leak and eventually condensation inside the window.

    The replacement came today.
No edge issues, but it has several scratches through the middle of the window.
Scratches a buyer didn't see until the crew left and we cleaned the window.
Standing back, it looks OK (?), but once the crew left and we were cleaning it, there were several scratches in between the glass panes.

No one will probably notice the scratches, but I see them EVERY TIME I LOOK AT IT...

    I'll get over it.
If this is my biggest problem in life, I'm blessed and leading a pretty good life.
Score another victory for the wife, she told me to leave it be...:thumbsup:
