I don't think we forgot how to make quality products, I think we just decided it would be easier and cheaper to have somebody else do it. Then we never went back.

We can and do make quality things again. The 70's was a wakeup call.

Not sure about Red Snapper, but most fish don't like hugs for some reason. Don't ask me how I know.

I thought we've still been putting out some pretty shitty stuff, especially in the 80's. I'm trying to figure out what I have in this house that is 100% American.

But don't get me wrong - I love this country. I gave my health to this country and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I just thing everything has been about profit and less about quality ever since somebody figured out planned obsolescence - something I'd probably be fine with if I was one of the people or an heir benefiting from it.

TV and music! We've been putting out some pretty quality TV and music! In fact, I'm gonna take a dose of Fade Out, watch Ted Lasso, and pass out for the night.

I think we can all agree that Hollywood pretty much sucks these days, but this looks like it might be a good one.

Tom - whatcha think about a bucket hat. Caddy shack style. Some of us fair skinned, bald headed fools gotta keep our noggins and our ears covered.

It’s rare for me to be outdoors partaking in leisure activities without either a boonie hat or a bucket hat in my bald skull…

I haven't, but I've had habu sake in Japan. Pretty tasty but expensive.

I like the idea of both beanies and buckets. Kinda wish I had a bucket today.

liquor with a cobra? That’s pretty legit. I probably wouldn’t drink it but damn it would be a cool talk piece.

Nope, but I tried it in Okinawa and brought a bottle back. The only snake found on the island is a black cobra. The Habu. Oki does have giant bugs to eat too.....

Nat Geo moment....We still engineer and make some of the most sophisticated test equipment ,among other things, on the planet that can't even be exported. Lots of other various test equipment is engineered here and of very decent quality. High end quality built to our standards but manufactured in Japan, China and Malaysia. Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Fluke, and Tektronix. R&S is German engineered and even some of their test equipment is made in China now. It's not all about planned obsolescence, but it is all about profit. Shareholders like profit. Most of us are shareholders. Food for rhought.

I'd be down bigtime for a mafia crusher bucket hat. That's a great idea!

Yep, Deming from the great USA went over and taught them the Lean process. Japan in turn perfected it and call it the Toyota Production System and the reason why our Tundra’s are top quality because Toyota leads all in Lean. I do this crap and it comes down to leadership. If leaders believe in it, then it works. If not it’s a waste of time and effort. Sometimes pride/ego gets in the way.

When we were selling those junker cars back in the early 70's, Toyota and Datsun sales finally took off bigtime. Cheap, reliable, and decent mpgs.

Also, pretty sure my GF is thinking I'm starting to lose my mind...

Me: *proceeds to open package and get excited about hat and stickers*

Her: do you have a subscription box to hat and stickers? And why is half this stuff birds?

Me: interesting, but no sub. And it's a drone drop

    Her: drone? Looks like pigeons.

Me: that's what I said. Drones.

Her: *calls me and idiot as she's walking away*

Me: laughing, because in all actuality, I still have no idea wtf is going on

What kind of people do you hang out with?!!!

Oh, wait. I just realized we are all part of the ToyoMafia club and now it makes complete sense. Still, you might give the neighbors dog a sample first and see what happens to him before you take a swig.

    That’s the claim…
I just worry about whether it’s really ethanol they’re using to preserve that snake… methanol and formaldehyde look awfully similar in that context

Yeah it was a nice gesture I guess? Haha but that’s why I haven’t drank it yet.
My sister traveled thru Oaxaca Mexico, she brought back some legit mezcal, it wasn’t to bad. I just wish she would have brought back treats from the mushroom festival down there……..
