You're making good progress. It's really tough to get the last bit dialed in without being over your shoulder in real time.

Whatever you did between the red lines, keep doing that. That's the best looking section. The green arrow is pointing to spatter which is most likely build up from your nozzle. A set of mig pliers or needle nose pliers will help you clean out that tip. I made a habit of checking my nozzle tip for any spatter build up before starting each bead. Besides not looking great, if the spatter falls into your puddle it can give you porosity.

Uh.... I might use a tissue to clean my tip. You can keep your crusty pliers, thanks.

If you clean up a little after, instead of waiting 'til the next time you use it, the spatter may be easier to deal with and you might not need pliers.

Obviously you use your tip more than me and the spatter doesn't have time to dry.

You've made it 29 years without killing each other. That's winning, man. Definitely not a loser.

Careful with tools for either. Battery powered is fine. If you come across stuff with power cords or a motor on it, you'll prob have trouble walking the next few days/weeks

My son in law races dirt track. Last season he went to his team mate's house after the race. He got home and my daughter said he smelled like race cars, sweat and beer, go take a shower. I asked him if we could find a way to bottle that.
