French dip sandwiches, invented in LA.
Grippos seasoned wings, recipe from the first lady of Ohio.
Golden Road Mango Cart, wheat beer from LA.
Couldn't find any Ohio beers locally, so we went with the AFC runner up, Tank 7 from Boulevard. An excellent saisson from KC.

Always wondered why a French Dip sandwich is made with Swiss cheese. Now you tell me it was invented in the USA, and I'm horribly confused.

That's how Mrs Punishment's mother does it too. I usually have the opposite problem - cheese melts before the bread gets crispy.

Apparently it's named for the bread, French rolls. The recipe I have uses Provolone, so through Italian in the mix too. Two different restaurants take credit for it, but it definitely originated in LA. One story is that the chef accidentally dropped a French roll in beef broth and thought it tasted good.

It’s a nice little town, full of alcoholics and drunks though. I think we have 6 or 8 bars, no grocery store, and no gas station in town.

It’s notoriously known for being a quiet drinking town with a climbing problem.

One store and gas station 14 miles out of town.

I only go into Talkeetna now for the parades and packages at the post office. :p

Of course. Flew over it on the BP/CP consolidated flight from Anchorage to Kuparik on Memorial Day weekend in 2012. 800 miles straight away north from Anchorage. Coworker picked me up, drove a few miles north and I bookmarked two weekends at BP's site at Milne Point. Fun times actually!

It covered almost 2 miles in the video. It was cruising around 45MPH the whole time.
