Well I took the family for a quick trip up to Flagstaff today ended up doing about 250 miles and I have to say I’m really enjoying these Falkens. They are way quieter than my Toyo’s were as of recently. I do think my Toyo’s were just so worn down or perhaps cupped etc. that that may have been causing the excess noise. However, I did have 56k miles on them so I’m not complaining as they were great tire. I would definitely recommend the Toyo’s to anyone. And so far my experience with the Falkens is the same. Super pleased with them.

Sorry to bring up an old post...
What size are the pro wheels for your tundra?

Wheels, tires, truck all look super clean with that sizing.

I put toyo's on the rig this year after only running bfg ko2's since owning the truck... now i wonder what took me so long.
BFG's were awful in deep snow, not great when the roads were wet either. Toyo AT3's resolved all of that and seem quieter as well.
They'll be the tire i run for a long time.

I just got some 295 70 18 Toyos and they were hard to find. The only place that had them was Simpletire.com. They are made in the USA. The Falkens are made in China. We have a set on a truck at work and they say made in China on them. F*** China!

I've run KO2s on my trucks for ten years. I'm considering the AT3s for new tires this year, or I go back to the KO2s. I do a lot of towing half the year and the KO2s have been great. But at 26k miles, the wet/ice traction is declining. Not necessarily in 4WD, but I definitely have to put the truck in 4WD in situations now where it never needed it before.

Works out - new tires means new wheels.

Not all Falkens are made in China. Some are made in Japan and some in Thailand.

I always made note of the geographical location of people reviewing a tire i was considering, a glowing review from a person living in Southern Texas doesn't mean much when i live in mid-western Canada. IMO Colorado's true 4 season weather would be a perfect place to run these. I'm sure Wildpeaks are good as well (very similar tread) i just haven't run them so i can't say from experience.
also, new rims are a must of course! lol

Totally agree with the geography. I slid again yesterday when I normally wouldn't. Granted, there was a 50 car pile up on I25 south of Denver. Still, I've had really good, confidence inspiring traction with the KO2s until this year.

Do you do any towing? The sidewalls on the KO2s are beefy and once I realized you have to religiously rotate them, they've been great. Other than this year's traction issue.

nothing crazy. I pull a 16' fibreglass boat around during the summer months and a small single axle trailer with my atv on it during hunting season.
As for the traction, i never realized how much i was missing until i changed over. This entire winter i might have engaged the 4x4 10 times, half of which were just for fun. i used to have to use it in the weirdest places, even leaving icy intersections was crazy frustrating as i was battling between the wheel-slip then the traction control kicking in. Not anymore!

    Toyo > Falken!

I run the AT3s on my 4runner. They're phenomenal in all conditions so far - great in 13" of fresh powder.

I had bad experiences with Falken tires on cars which has kind of turned me off to the brand in general. My friend had Falkens on his brand-new Sierra a couple of years ago and they wore unevenly and rapidly despite being properly filled, balanced, and regularly rotated. This further influenced me to steer clear of them.

That's a really good endorsement. I've been slipping at the bus stop all winter because I park on the side in the ice/snow bank. I'm pretty heavy with the Leer shell and RCI stuff, so there's no reason to be sliding around.

Interesting. I was about 70% in for new KO2s until this conversation. I appreciate it.

We do offer a 30 day/1000 mile trial period on the AT3w's, along with other tires in our lineup. If you are within that period, exercise that policy through Simpletire. If you have trouble with Simpletire & within the 30 day/1000mile period, gather the point of contact helping you with the case at simple tire so we can reach out to them regarding your case.

Also include Buffalo, NY. We do make the Wildpeaks out of the USA but sometimes we need the product of our other factories to chop away these back orders.
