    Hey guys,
I have been towing for quite a bit with my 2019 Trd Pro 5.7 L.. and i have come to find that it sometimes struggles with loads its not supposed to, it is rated for 12,000 pounds and the other day i towed 6,000 pounds up a hill and it felt like it wanted to quit on me..
Is their a towing tune or something that wont void the warranty?

Any help will be welcomed, thanks

You are using tow/haul? If not you should. Other than that some folks run a tuner, like a bullydog, where you can switch up settings for your preferences. That one also can go back to stock so no issues with the dealer.

6000lbs is not light. I tow that amount with the shop truck at work- V8 2500 4x4 chevy and that truck will strain at times depending on road conditions.

I’ve not had an issue with mine. Make sure you are using tow haul mode

You saying your truck is rated to pull 12k lbs, or your trailer can hold 12k lbs?

Either way, it shouldn't have a problem towing 6k. Like others said, did you use tow/haul mode?

This and use the proper gear in S mode? People tend to think the truck should tow at 1500 RPM where it doesn’t make any power... it’s like asking someone to run a 4 minute mile but do so walking.

    Function before sparkle.
Let's first set expectations for pretty much every non-turbo gasoline truck: when towing up a hill, the engine needs to rev and high RPM doesn't necessarily indicate struggling. The engine makes its power in the higher RPM range.

With that said, was the truck struggling or reving?

I haven't towed much in my life so I only have a narrow perspective. I towed a 6 x12 enclosed U haul trailer 3 hours fully loaded I'm guessing around 4-5k pounds conservatively. With my 4cyl 5 speed taco. An other then getting off the line real slow once up to speed I was impressed with how well it did.. So that was what 140-160hp ish? So I am surprised at how much the Tundra feels like it's working towing my 4500lb camper (granted it's alot bigger size physically) with double the house power and torque.. but it does it just fine.. but I can see why some folks feel it's stressing it out..

Yes, i am using tow haul... My problem is that the roads here in Puerto Rico are steep and full of turns.. But the problem is sometimes it pulls great (using the same trailer and roads), but sometimes it feels sluggish.
If the loads where to be different i would understand, but their not. I was wondering about a supercharger or a tune, but i do not know
