Ok— I was reading the owners manual.. it lists 8800 to 9800 for the CM2018 38 gallon tank...
I haven’t picked mine up yet, but is there really that much difference?

    And why!?

It has to do with the GVWR. (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). The more cab and drive train accessories take away from that GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating). That is why a regular cab 2wd will have a higher payload and tow rating (GAWR) given the same drive train and wheelbase.

check your door sticker for a more accurate number. Manuals are printed for a variety of trucks with varying options.
Based on what I've read the rear differential available with the tow package makes a big difference in towing capacity. Not sure if that's standard equipment or not on the 2018.
