I’ve towed our TTs all over the place on the highways and interstates in the right lane and never more than 60-65mph. Haven’t died yet.

Well honestly it…. Who am I kidding. I couldn’t give one flying shit about what anyone on the road with me thinks. I’m safely operating my vehicle. Driving 70+ mph towing heavy is just asking for a situation that will be beyond the vehicles ability. Go around.

Just got back from a trip out west towing a 6000lb travel trailer behind my 3.0 Duramax. Wisconsin to Colorado. 2000 miles there and back. Averaged 13.0 mpg running between 67-73mph depending on road conditions, traffic, and terrain. AC on the whole time in 85+ heat. Averaged 28 mpg for 700 miles unhooked the entire week we were there being a tourist.
My next truck (retirement rig) will either be a 3.0, a big diesel, or a tundra. Prob depends on the size of the camper!

DEF consumption went up from about 1300 mpg for regular driving to about 200 mpg towing. That added $50 to my fuel bill.

    Lots of stuff!
I found the same thing with my DEF consumption. During the last trip, our I had to add a couple of jugs of DEF. We were carrying about 5,000 lbs and still got 14.5 mpg but the DEF usage sort of evened the playing field compared to gas.

Can't beat a diesel for towing. Period. Mileage, power, ease, there's no comparison to gas at all.

I just towed this from Colorado to Montana and back. Much of route has 80 mph speed limits, which I love. If I didn't periodically check the rear view mirror, I wouldn't have know the boat was back there.

Overall, I got around 15 mpg. I'm fine with that.
