Is there anything that I can do to fix a touchy gas pedal?

I do believe the bully dog tuner can help with this.

Check out the vendor section. Pretty popular item.

It might be worth trying to disconnecting the battery for a little bit so the computer can reset and learn driving habits and shift points over again.

Chris is correct, BD tuner will let you tame the twitchiness. Be aware, if you like to use the tow/haul button it seems to override the BD tune and you're right back to the stock feel.

In definitely? Or just while you’re using the tow haul?

    Just when using tow/haul.

Turn the tow/haul off and it's right back to the easily modulated pedal.

OK I was unsure for the second Gens. That’s pretty much how my third GEN does it as well.

    Hear the BD will work.

I installed the Pedal Commander which worked as well.

I noticed it too when i first got my tundra. I wasnt used to a truck putting this much torque to the wheels coming from gm trucks.

The second gen is more touchy. 14- is smoother. I added the BD and it’s probably right up the middle. Id say its in between tow haul and factory.

My pedal was lopped off at the dealership and I hated the feel so I made a plate an riveted it on. The longer throw and a more relaxed foot position gave me a more subtle throttle response. I might try some skateboard grip tape on it, but for now it feels great.

Year Tundra? There’s a shim in the 2nd gen pedal. I just deleted it with a $35 OEM replacement pedal. Made all the difference, but mine wasn’t a tow/haul specific problem. It existed in all “modes.”

Did the same today. Immediately satisfied with the lack of jerkiness in the 1st/2nd gear speed regime. Much better / finer throttle control.

Got the 440C pedal a while back, removed pedal Commander. Much smoother acceleration.

I guess I am the only one here that likes the hair-trigger gas pedal.

I drove my brother in law's 08 DC and it super touchy rolling thru insections. I thought I just didn't know how to drive it.

I bought my 08 CM a few months ago and it's not even close to being as twitchy as his. I'll have to check out the shim or get the updated pedal for him.

I have a 2007 tundra. It isn't a tow/haul problem. It is exists in all "modes" and I just don't like the touchiness of it.

No you aren't. I love the responsive throttle on my Tundra. One of my favorite things about the truck.

You're not the only one. It took a little while to get used to the responsiveness of the pedal, but I like it now. I came from a small Chevy truck that had to think about it a while when you pushed the pedal, and even then didn't get in a hurry. The first couple of weeks with the Tundra almost gave my wife whiplash. Once I adjusted, I like having the responsiveness when I need it.

A little more info would be helpful. Looking at the pics you posts and visually...I don't see where the shim would be (or more accurately, where it would be removed from!). Thx!

I guess to add - all I can find out there about pedal issues/recalls specified '07-10, so apparently my 2011 wouldn't be included...but I'd beg to differ lol

There is no shim regarding what he's mentioning, it's a total gas pedal replacement... Part# 04000-0440C. I've had the replacement pedal for a while now and don't miss the bull riding days while driving the truck.

Hmmm...maybe I read it wrong, the impression I got was the difference in the stock vs. replacement pedal was the lack of a shim. Maybe not. There's not a ton of info out there other than a few random forum posts.

So...would be 2011 be subject to the same thing? I'll have to take a look at it. It sure does feel rather twitchy, but maybe I'm still getting used to driving the 5.7 right now...it's only been a couple of months.

Had the same issue with our 07. The replacement pedal is way smoother, makes driveability much better. Cheap and easy fix

    I'm working on it

From what I am understanding. the stock existing pedal. Has a metal shim in it that can be remove . To help it feel less twitchy

Most ppl are replacing the existing pedal with the 0440. Pedal. And getting good results

Again this is what I am reading and information I am gathering to my understanding

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
Mine is super touchy as well. I just have gotten use to it. It is always fun watching someone new drive it though. You could say it is a "head-jerkin" time...

I can't comment about the "Shim". There were some discussions about how dealers (early on) attempted to modify the pedal to correct the issue; with shims, angles, and trimming. The replacement pedal is identical physically. The difference is it's electrical characteristics to the ECM, most likely a variable resistor, which "curves" the acceleration to the trucks computer.
The new accelerator is cheap and easy. Two 10mm mounting studs and two harness connections. Plug and play, 5-10 minutes tops.

Would you have a link of where to purchase? Or is it something I should just check with the local dealer on? And any clue if it's different than what my stock pedal would be on a 2011?

I’ve gotten used to it now on my 2nd gen. But it’s good to hear I wasn’t the only one! It took me about 6 weeks to condition my foot to apply the right pressure so it accelerates smoothly through all the shift points, low gears being the trickiest. REALLY have to feather it to keep the engine under 2k RPMs.
