Good find. If I didn't just get my GG6 I'd be all over this

Yeah can’t really beat that price. From everything I’ve read it supposed to be a pretty decent machine

Griots GG6 is a better machine and comes with a lifetime warranty. There's a reason why a long throw DA is being sold for 155.00...just sayin

I understand that you (and most other people on this site) know 100 times more than I do about this stuff but why is it so much better, other than the warranty the specs as far as I can see are similar other than torq being long throw and the argument that it is not good because it is on sale for a good price just doesn’t stand up for me. By that theory the gg machine was not as good when it it was on sale for 99$ a while back. I am not trying to raise your hackles here just sincerely want to know what makes one better than the other in your opinion before I make a boneheaded purchase.

My point about it being sold for 155.00 is simply this....top quality long throw DAs sell for more...in some cases, a lot more. You get what you pay for. If you have an issue with that one being sold by Amazon, they will tell you to go to Chemical Guys to get it resolved. Chemical Guys will tell you they didn't sell it to you, go back to Amazon. If you have a problem with a Griots 6" DA...call them and they will take care of it, regardless of where you purchased it, even if you're not the original owner. I do not know when/where someone said it (Griots DA) wasn't good when it was sold for 99.00 , but they did not know what a steal that was.

I love my GG6 and dont see a need to get anything else any time soon. If I did upgrade I would probably go with one of their BOSS units

I’ll be up front here. I don’t know why the Griots is better. I have both the Griots and the Torq.
The Griots works much better and faster than the Torq. It takes a lot more time and effort to get the same results from the Torq than it does with the Griots. It may be the RPMs, or something else, but I can tell you from experience that it does perform better.
Combine that with customer service (see the recent thread on the subject), and it’s a no brainer with the prices being so close.

Every now and then you can get a coupon code that works in polishers in autogeek, autopia, or detailedimage. Also autozone or advanced auto buy online and pickup in store. I saved 20% on mine when I got it and I grabbed a 5" backing plate while I was at it. I got the HD model with the longer and heavier gauge cord...probably not necessary lol.

Has anyone used the DeWalt polisher before? Found one locally for $50 but wanted to see how it stacks up against Griot's, Torq, Porter Cable?

That is a rotary polisher, not a dual action. The same results can be achieved but those take a lot of practice to perfect and are much easier to make a mistake with, aka high risk of damaging your clearcoat or paint unless you're skilled at using a rotary

Ah good to know. I better stay away from it then as I'm new to polishing and definitely don't need anything high risk.

Yeah those spin at high rpm and don't oscillate or stop spinning like a DA does. It's almost impossible to screw up with a DA, with a rotary you can have some serious damage before you realize what you've done lol

I started with a HF unit and honestly it was a waste of money. The griots isnt thatmuch more, or the porter cable. The HF is heavy, loud, and takes longer to correct. Now that I have a griots I wish I started off with it and saved the $80 or $90 I spent on it, I modded mine a bit too with the washer mod, 5" backing plate, and switch relocated. I might sell it of you really want it. If not I'll throw like a 2" backing plate on it...who am I kidding I'll never use it again lol.

That’s pretty much what I was thinking. It doesn’t take long with a mitt anyway.
