The night I bought my Tundra, approx 1/2 mile away there was a tornado. Im think we missed it by15 minutes. We don't get them very often this far east. I can remember only 4 or 5 in my lifetime. 20180615_082536(0).jpg

No one was killed, as it was almost closing time. The force of nature can be very scary.

My Tornado experience was in Rolla, ND. We were visiting some family and the sky turn green, some low very dark clouds (almost fog like) rolled through town, the wind shifted, then the sirens started going off. It was a surreal moment and definitely a rush. I watched an EF3 come through a field then start shredding houses about 150 yards up the street. Watched a few other, smaller tornadoes form as well. I finally went inside to the basement when some large debris started falling nearby. The path of destruction was eye opening and very intriguing. Houses with windows, walls, roofs missing, their belongings strewn out over the lawn but looking inside, the fine china was still on the shelves. I've seen some very far away from me in TX but this was the first and only close up with one and hopefully the last. The town just 5 miles from us on that trip didn't have tornadoes but had some very large and damaging hail, thankfully we didn't get that.

Our local county emergency services has declared that the sirens are too expensive to maintain and everyone should just get the app on their phone. To me, that's a step backwards because I'm not joined to the hip with my phone.

I agree with that. I don’t always have my phone right there or I may have it silenced.

Same here, I rarely have my phone on my person and I don't have any apps on my phone.
I listen to the radio, and watch radar on my PC.
