Nate - have you considered dropping to an 18" rim ? and you can fit a 295/65 in there with mild trimming......I've run At3's on my last three DD's and still have them on my wife's DD..... they do get a bit louder but they're very predictable in rain and handle well....and decent offroad for things like fireroads etc...

I went with SCS F5's on my TRD pro - and even with 37's it's not much of a weight gain, given the flow forged rim weight (23.5lbs) over the stock chunkers(34lbs for the TRD BSS forged set) The OD does impact things a bit.....

long term plans for the truck ?

Just got the KO3s in 285/65/20 for my 1794 off road. No rubbing, worth every penny.

Nice, thanks... looks great and good to know even this size can fit on bone stock. How's the ride on these? Do you notice the sluggishness others are mentioning?

Very nice! what the the leveling struts you have? would you recommend them? Did not realize they had the AT3 in SL as well. What are the 'limits' of the SLs so to speak as to when it makes more sense to go with the E? is it more about off roading or more about towing?

I don't think it's rough. I do think the tire pressure you run make more difference. I fitted an air compressor in my truck and just testing it out I decided to air up to 40 instead of 36 just to see what gas milage would look like. I think that has made for a rougher ride over a different tire choice.

I honestly think they ride better than stock. They handle better, slightly more bouncy. I wouldn’t say they’re sluggish at all, truck has plenty of power. The best way I can explain it is, when you let go of the gas the truck feels like slows down faster than before. This could just be a feeling I get.

I have the Rough Country N3 2" front leveling struts. They make the truck look great. They are maybe a touch stiffer than stock. If I could do it all over again I'd step up to the RC M1 struts, which I have heard have a more refined ride. But overall I'm super happy with them and there's no doubt it's a better way to level than a cheap puck spacer.

This is my first truck and I've never used E rated tires but after learning from all the super smart dudes in this forum I went with SL for a few reasons:
    • I don't tow and I don't off-road with my pavement princess so I don't need the extra plies or stiffer sidewall
    • I wanted to keep the ride as smooth as possible and mpg reasonable
    • I didn't want to substantially affect accelerating and braking
    • I didn't want to deal with rubbing
Very happy with the tires so far.

You sir made a wise choice congrats. Looks are fleeting, ride quality and mpg are forever

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear on the AT3s
Wow that's a big drop in wheel weight with the SCS F5s. Makes sense to help offset the increase in tire weight.
I've definitely considered other wheels/sizes but was leaning toward just keeping the stock TRD OR wheels currently as I like them.
Still very torn with my original thoughts... lol not sure what direction i'm going to go yet

Hi Paul, I'm about to pull the trigger on the 285/60R20 Toyo AT3s in SL (have them in my cart at the checkout screen lol)... however... these caught my eye: Toyo Open Country A/T III EV ... these are SL as well in a 275/65R20. so 34"s ... slighthly taller, slightly thinner, slightly lighter (and slightly more $$). Curious what your thoughts are on these/this size? I think the EV designation is really more marketing than anything. Any reason not to run these on a non EV?
Think i should just stick with the 285/60R20s?

I don't know the differences between EV tires and non-EV tires and I don't drive an EV so I never really considered EV tires.

I also thought about going with SL275/65R20 - was looking at Nitto Recon Grapplers and Nitto Terra Grappler G3. It's all subjective but I like the slightly wider look of the 285s and for reasons I can't really explain, after literally a year of research, I just think the Toyos are the best so that's what I went with.
