Unpopular question. How does your daughter needing a new car make you sell the one you have?

 

Haha no worries… I don’t want to give my daughter a 40k plus vehicle that’s super high in insurance and horrible in fuel efficiency… it’s not my daily driver and it’s not practical for our family

 

Man if you were in Tx I’d figure out a way to get those sliders

Wheels tires & pro suspension could probably get you the $4k difference easy. Then the skid, cat shields, sliders, etc is “walking around money” as the saying goes.

if you don’t mind turning wrenches and have the time, I’d part it out. Your offers are being made based on vin, year, mileage, & condition. Mods not factored in. Private party will get you a possible buyer that wants a turn key truck, but that pool isn’t very large.

As to leaving the mods on there some buyers (myself included) don't like to see them and potentially use them as a knock on the pricing.

Shop around, the prices are lower for used, but don't take the first offer you get. I just sold my commuter car to a dealership a couple weeks ago, the first one I went to only offered me 24K, second one offered 27K, and I finally found one that would give me the 29K I wanted!!

It's a lot of work, but worth it, and after reading some bad reports about places like carvana etc, I decided a dealership was going to be a safer bet.. good luck selling!!

I think he was more hinting at, why are you buying your daughter a car, vs her working for and paying for her own car? It's not anyone's business, as it's your own choice, but I think that was the actual question....

I am all about teaching kids to work for things and not just giving them handouts, but that's because that is how I was raised. My sister and BIL had my niece work and pay for the vehicle they were handing down to her, just for principle so she could feel what it's like to work to get something you want/need, as they do not want her getting entitlement syndrome, which is what many kids and young adults have these days!
