To cat protect, or not to cat protect.... That is the question

Slipped the talon right underneath the pro skid plate of course backed the factory bolts out first, no issues at all except when tightening back up it's extremely tight to get my hand in there with an open ended box wrench to hold the other side of the nut while tightening but it's doable and I have bratwursts for fingers

We have a nut plate designed to make installing the shield with the TRD pro plate easier and have sent a few out for testing to make sure it’s correct.

it’s something we will add to our line up as soon as we head back from the testers.

That's good to hear. I will probably hold out on ordering until you have that in final form. This is something I assume will be done relatively soon?

I went with taco tunes cat shield. Just arrived yesterday and it covers both cats just fine! The other two cats are after the turbos- so it doesn’t really need a shield

I like this plate. I like the airflow and access points. Where did you get this one from.

Does anyone know of any cat shields that offer access doors to check the transmission and transfer case fluids.

Special is still going, all three of my products, Front/transfer/gaurds, just showed up. Was an easy call with the promo of free guards and 15% off skids, but I'm coming over from a Tacoma, so I needed all the pieces anyway.

    Likely next week.

I forgot to put it on the cut list I made. I wrote it in big letters across the board. I am sure it will be cut next week, and on the website.

We got a cool opportunity to work with a larger youtube channel so it kind of slowed down all of our other projects.

Talon, I just sent an email. I am curious what is the timeline from ordering, manufacturing to shipping. Days, weeks, months, etc?

For the standard cat plates? If it’s in stock, it means it’s in a box ready to ship.

for the most part we ship same bussiness day, but sometimes it can be 2-3 days. Most recently case would be items ordered over the weekend didn’t ship till Tuesday because our shipping courier didn’t show up Monday. This is pretty rare though.

Protect the cats. If push comes to shove, not even Toyota corporate will help.

I live in Houston TX, ground Zero for Cat theft. I have the Valhallas Sheilds custom front skid, front and rear plates installed. I know for a fact they have saved my Cats Twice from getting stolen. First time we stayed at the Embassy Suites in College Station, I parked on the roof level of the garage and thieves hit the garage that night, they hit at least four other Tundras and Sequoia's but passed mine up. Second time some tard tried unbolting the rear plate and got scared off, afterwards I added security bolts to it. So I tell every Tundra owner I meet to get cat protection, I don't care what brand it is it's worth every dollar to save from getting the cats stolen and having to wait to get replacements installed.

Ok. Does anyone have a any pics of their Talon or RCI cat shields from the rear of the vehicle. Trying to see what each one covers of the rear cats. I know the Cat Security bolts on using 8 bolts and I believe the both talon plates are attached by only 4 under bolts and 2 side bolts. Don't seem to be a lot. What about the number of bolts for the RCI plates. Probably being too picky.

Well I ordered the RCI front skid, transmission, transfer case skids along with the cat guards after seeing others sets up and listening to recommendations. Thanks for all the info.

You probably have your answer/plan by now still wanted to reply. My back is also pretty shot after a couple of decades of EMS and river guiding, I'm now working as an ED Tech. I had never heard of this cat theft problem until I got my tundra a couple months ago, and that's after years of driving a sequoia. I went back and forth a little bit but then went ahead and ordered the shield from Taco Tunes. I can tell you it's been a huge boost to my piece of mind if nothing else. The Taco Tunes doesn't fully cover the back 2 cats. My understanding though, after reading way to many posts on here, is that the back cats aren't as valuable or important and also easier to replace. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The Taco Tunes shield is super easy to install even for a lay person. Keep in mind though if your truck is stock height and your belly is as big as mine you will need some ramps.

I grabbed some of these skid plate washers from AGM to go with the security bolts, and widened up the holes for the bolts. Removing and reinstalling my cat shields is now a much much easier process and I like knowing if I bash over a rock or something, I probably won't kill the hardware as readily.

Just put on the Talon transmission and transfer case plates on my 2020 Tundra. Bought the aluminum mill finish ones. Cut and finish was perfect. Received in only a couple of days.
