Work boots depending on requirements are these Reebok Rapid Response...my mouse is being dumb right now and won't let me copy the link sorry. They are super comfy and have composite toe, EH rated, non slip sole with the oil and chemical resistant stuff. Leather upper construction and a zipper on the inboard side so you don't have to tie them after the first time....or for an emergency. Flashlight can't help on that one. Surefire's are nice but you will pay through your you know what on batteries. I wouldn't recommend LED Lensor if you could get them for free....thats just my opinion. Had a few headlamps and batteries take a crap when they were new.

    Edit. got the link

The only two things to note would be: 1. The 8" may be a bit high. I think they make a 6" version. Make sure you wear long socks for the first few days at least. They can be a bit annoying while breaking in...depending how long your wearing them. I was working 10hr shifts when I got them. 2. They are a bit warm so if you work indoors maybe hold off going with heavy duty socks till you try them for a few days.

I have recommended to them to some of the guys I work with and one has already bought and one is about to in Jan. when our boot allowance renews. They are like safety running shoes though.

Danner is my go to for boots. Had them in the military and now in law enforcement. Some are resoleable

Streamlight rechargeable for flashlights. Expensive but worth it IMO.

When it comes to boots it really depends on what your requirements are for the job at hand.

I tried several types of boots in the military; standard issue boots (terrible), different varieties of Bellevilles, but my favorite military boots were these Garmonts.

    https://www.amazon.com/Garmont-T8-NFS-Tactical-Boot/dp/B01INLU0BG

These are extremely light, comfortable, and tough. They gripped very well no matter the terrain or weather and provided the support I needed while still being able to double time it if I had to.

Fast forward to being a shop manager/owner I wear safety toe work boots since I like to be on the floor with my team as well as in front dealing with my customers and vendors. I tried some leather boots from Cat and Wolverine but they were not very comfortable to me and didn't last all that long. I'd heard about Red Wings and found one of their stores and never looked back.

    http://www.redwingsafety.com/safety-boot/5290-safe-us/mens-8-inch-boot-black-8-inch-boot-black

I've had a pair of these since March of 2017, wear them at work everyday and they have held up extremely well. They polish up nicely and look very neat professional but are still very tough, the non-metallic toe is nice in the winter because they don't get cold but still protect my toes in the event something does fall on them, and the zippered sides make them super easy to get on and off. They are slip resistant, have plenty of tread left, and are very comfortable.

For flashlights if you need something tactical like a red light then I would go with Pelican. I can't remember what model I had but I had a Pelican headlight with red/green/blue LED light capability. Ran on AAA batteries that you could get anywhere. It was very bright and had strobe/flashing options as well.

In the shop its all about the Streamlight, I have two of these Stinger LED lights and they are the best.

    https://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-75732-Rechargeable-Flashlight-1-PiggyBack/dp/B000PW94BY

I actually found one of them resting between the exhaust manifold of a vehicle we bought at auction. I wrestled it out changed the battery (swollen from the heat) and it is still working fine aside from a slightly burnt grip. Probably going to get one of the new versions with the Lithium Ion battery when one of them finally dies.

Smith & Wesson also makes a nice LED flashlight that I keep in my Tundra in case I need it. Doesn't take up a lot of space, super bright, and USB rechargeable so you can keep it charged up on the go.

    Rick,
    Boots...take a look here-

    https://tacticalgear.com/

I always liked a lighter weight boot in the event I had to run after a knuckle head. Heavier boots can have you sucking wind. Streamlights are nice, get the best and brightest.
    Hope this helps.

Whatever boot you go for, I'd say no to Bates. They're standard issue in the Navy and every pair I've gotten the sole splits across the ball of the foot. Belleville holds up, bought a pair of their tropical weather boots when I was in the gulf and they're still going strong. I'd recommend Rocky's as a close second, they've resisted the wear and tear of the mechanic shop for 8 months now. Only complaint is that it's hard to get oil and grease out of them.

I've been wearing Danner Acadias for 20 years. Last forever (if you maintain the leather), they can be re-soled, and are good in all weather conditions.

Streamlights are good lights. Get a full size rechargable model and a small carry light if possible.

I would stay away from Rocky’s. I can only speak on the S2V’s at least.
Not sure the type of work you do but have had several pairs issued to me and they all have fallen apart under 6 months.
They’ll tear you up during the break in also.

As far as lights go, you can never go wrong with surefire, or streamlight.
