I had 285 Nitto Grapplers on my 4runner Pro and sold them with my SCS wheels because I’m trading it in on my tundra pro. I think for being aggressive tire they ride good. Maybe when they get some miles on them they will get louder but I think they are quite. I’m leaning towards them for my new tundra again.

I’m with you here! I’m not too worried about the road noise. It’ll be hard to hear over the exhaust anyways. It’s already a loud truck.

I put Terra Grapplers on my wifes Grand Cherokee. If they were too loud, I would hear about it from her... trust me.

Sweet! Thanks. Glad you went that size or wish you’d do 285/70? Trying to decide myself.

I think 285/70 is the sweet spot for our trucks but that size is pretty much limited to the Nitto RG which I did not want. 295/70 is another option but I think it sometimes looks “stuffed” and is typically a very heavy tire so I settled on the 275/70 Falken. I’m happy with these. I think they run slightly larger than other 275/70’s from other brands. Pictures dont do them justice, they look perfect in person in my opinion.

Ok that’s what I was thinking. I’m wanting to try out the Ridge Grapplers so I may try 285s. They only weigh 1 more pound than 275 so it makes sense to

I wasn't aware that the 285/70/18 size is limited. When I did get my TRD Pro, I made up my mind that I was going to try the Ridge Grapplers so that's what I searched for. I had a 2018 Tundra Cement SR5 and it came with the 20" BF Goodrich KO2s and I liked those as well so I wanted to try something else.

    Lots of shenanigans.
Just a heads up I am running 285/75 with no issues. Removed the front mud flap.

I quoted your origional post and was asking what size they were but then when it posted I say you posted the size lol.

Do you like them? I am just debating on going 275/70 (33.4”) or your 285/75 (34.8). I know you said you only removed the front mud flaps. No rubbing at all otherwise? Sway bar still installed? The Falkens are wider than most other ATs because of their tread design

    Lol, no worries.

front sway bar still installed. No rubbing full left or right. Had a slight rub whenever I was in a decline on reverse but not enough to affect anything. I removed the front bumper and swapped it out with an aftermarket one and it has gone away.
I’d recommend it if you want narrow 35’s. I love them and don’t think that the slight rubbing on a decline affects anything.
Overall I’m really happy I went with the bigger size. I was worried cause not too many people were running it but happy with my decision.

I really feel skinny 35s (285/75) is the golden size for our trucks, no BMC, tiny rubbing on sway bar at max articulation and lock to lock, least weight penalty over stock tires, since most skinny 35s are high 50s # to mid 60# vs 12.5" wide being in the 70# range, I was getting consistent mid teens in fuel consumption and it behaves well in all environment, even if I do decide to go with 37"s, I'm going to stick with 37x11.5

So the only rubbing you had was when you were at full lock in reverse on a hill? And that rubbing went away with a new front bumper right? So the tire was rubbing on the front bumper somewhere before you changed the bumper. I just want to be sure before I get that same size.

Thanks so much for the info!!!!!

just curious when all y'all go up a size are you changing out the spare too? looks like 275/70 (which i'm leaning towards) is about 1" taller than 275/65

Keep in mind that the OP's thread is about the Pro's. With the '15-'17 Bilsteins and the '19-'21 Fox setups, they have about a 2" lift in the front. Some have altered their suspension on their Pro's as well. Likewise all of the OEM Pro wheels are 8x18 and +60 offset.

My point is that all of these are variables that have to be considered when choosing tire sizes. And, even within sizing, there is variability in sizing from one brand to another. Even within brands, there can be sizing differences between models.

I've read several postings on this thread and others, where folks removed flaps, heated/pushed/cut plastics, or went bigger and required new UCA's and body mount chops.

I didn't want to do any of those things. I'm running the Falkens as I posted above in 295/70 18. All plastics intact. None removed and none trimmed. I have encountered no rubbing. I should note though that the Pro's have a different skid plate than the Off Road trucks. On my previous '18 OR, I had to trim the rear corners of the skid plate with the same size tire, wheel and a 2.5" 6112 setup.

    YMMV.

I believe that the rubbing was on the sway bar. When I say rubbing it is ever so slight. Barely noticable. For some reason when I added the bumper it went away. Unsure exactly why but it did and I'm not complaining.

I wonder if the added weight from the bumper moved the swaybar slightly up or something. Thanks for the info!

They are pretty noisy as well, I have them for 20k miles now and I’m about to changing them out in couple weeks with Michelin defender LTX Since Costco is going to have a sales for $150 instant rebate.

And no issue with UCA or anything running? I’ve felt around and the only tight spot I feel that might be iffy going this size from stock is around the upper control arm and just below it

Not that I am aware! I did check them the minute I drove it home from Discount Tires to check spacing from UCA to tire and there's at least a 1" space. I don't go crazy offroading or overlanding. I do camping but that's about it and its my daily driver and I don't smell or even feel rubbing when I turn or going over bumps. I didn't remove any mud flaps either front or rear of the tire. All stock (suspension, uca, wheels, etc) and the only thing I changed are the 285/70/18 tires.

Ok that’s the same with me! It won’t see crazy articulation or anything. I just didn’t want to mess up a $55,000 truck. I know many on here so no issues but I always like to check with anyone I can. Some people don’t care if it rubs a little. I do. That’s a problem over time

Looks like the front sway bar could be the issue as I went out and looked at full turn. Noticed anything there ?
