I just came across a good offer for a set of bfg ko2 A/Ts at 265/70/17 that comes with wheels as well. I was just wondering if anyone has any sort of input or info regarding the bfgs? I've heard a lot of different stories about them, some say they are the best most amazing tires while others say they're loud or make the ride rougher.

Does anyone else have anything to say about them? Or any recommendations otherwise? Currently running some older Cooper A3s that I'm only comfortable driving on for another ~5000 miles or so before the tread wears out too much.

KO2's are one of the most debated tires. I've been happy with mine but you'll find a lot for complainers online too. I guess this expected for one of the highest selling all terrains. I don't think mine are that loud. They shouldn't be louder than your Coopers.

You say you found a good deal, how much are they asking?

    Too many, but not enough....
Best tires I've ever owned on multiple vehicles.

I have them and they are great for me. No road noise and the truck rides great. Running 285/70/17 E rating

Right. The person is getting rid of the tires and wheels. Wheels look in decent shape(better than mine) and are 20 years old. They want 550$. They also claim between 8-10/32 left on the tread after driving 20-25k miles. Does that seem realistic?

Seems like a good price if they have a lot of life left. I would take a tread depth gauge to them. Pictures can be deceiving and most sellers will lie about how many miles are on tires.

Will do. I'm gonna see about the seller sending me a picture of the tread from another angle, and possibly see if they even have a tread gauge.

Truck came with BFG A/T KOs and they were decent, not the greatest in the rain though. I replaced them with KO2s and overall, I like the KO2s better. I feel they are better in wet conditions and look more aggressive than the old A/Ts. Not any louder and ride is actually pretty good.

On my 3rd set. First set were 285's on a Tacoma. Going on my second set on my Tundra. They get a little loud when the tread wears. Most often require quite a bit of wheel weights to balance. New, they are super quiet. Performance in mud is ok but its an AT tire. With all that said, I'd probably buy another set.

If I remember correctly, there was someone on here with a real clean white double cab that swore by those tires, said he put them on everything. I think his name was bull something or another?

Check the production date too, if they are 5 years or older "most" repair places won't touch them. FYI

I am running 275/70/17 KO2s on my 2005 AC. They're on wheels that are slightly too wide for the tires - see the thread here. Maybe someday I'll swap out either the wheels or the tires, but they've been running fine.

Drives great at highway speeds, and does well climbing up and down a gravel/dirt mountain road. Would recommend.

I know this is for a first gen, so weights are different against others.
I ran them stock from dealer on my 2017 tundra for 54k miles with no issues and sold them with I believe 6 or 8/32s of tread. Rode great. I upgraded to a 35.5/12.8r20 10 ply tire and ran those for 21k before I traded it in. Rode great. No issues either for balancing, ride quality, traction, etc.
Brother had them on his stock 2012 sequoia for 76k miles before replacing with same thing. No issues at all.
Dad ran/runs on his stock 2013 tundra for 48k miles so far with zero issues.
Sister had them on 2 separate 4runners with zero problems. Only put about 20-30k on each time before trading in vehicles.
I've seen people have issues, but I don't know how or why.
We are all in south Louisiana, so no snow/ice to test against except for me 2xs. 1 on first set if stocks and 1 time on bigger set. No issue.:notsure:

You may not be a 1st gen'er, but you and yours are from my "home", so I just want to say "thanks" for the input. I think a lot of the other subforums are scared to post over here. :D

Many different opinions and experiences with KO2s. Personally, I love them! I’ve had several sets and always get at least 70k miles out of them (alignment and rotations are key). I don’t find them any louder than other all terrains, and traction in most conditions has been very good. Perhaps best of all, I’ve never had a flat! *knock on wood*

I put a set of KO2s on my dad's truck. He was happy with the way they handled and they lasted a long time. Got louder as they wore down but that's normal.

They are a good solid Tire. I have run about 7 sets of them on various vehicles.

Are you saying the wheels are 20 years old, or the tires?

BFG like any other tire will have mixed reviews. To add to the confusion there are at least 3 BFG variations.

The older version (you won't find anymore) were tough as can be. A hard compound that lasts forever as long as you don't puncture the sidewall. I had a set of them on a different truck long ago.

The newer version is a softer compound with different sidewalls. In some ways better than the old, but not as tough and according to reports (I haven't had them) they don't last as long as the old version. These have the snowflake if that matters, so good in all weather.

The newest version is a harder compound again. It looks just like the soft version, but harder. It allegedly lasts forever like the original and doesn't have the snowflake.

I would say if the tires look good, go for it. However look into how to read the date of manufacture and check that before you buy. I would pass if they are more than 5 years old.
