Not quite sure what you typed there..... but I'm guessing that the sensors in your " off road" rims didn't work......??..... right.?
and did you switched sensors...?.... or did you just put your stock rims with the original tires and sensors back on..?

When I backed into the garage my truck picked up my old tires (20" that came on truck) and shut the light off. I did not realize till I drove it to work and the light came back on. I have the 18" Off Roads on for the winter. It looks like the Off Road and the Sport use the same TMPS sensor but the Push to Start may have a different model. Did not do any swapping of sensors and really hope I don't have to but I will live with the light for now.

Well,,,, post back if you find out anything new.
I'm got a set of rims for snow tires, I have mounted the tires yet, but after doing different searches on here about the 2020 with the push button start, the sensors are different, different frequency.

I'm leaning toward having the tire shop put in just the standard rubber valve stems and deal with the light for the winter months.

I'm not doing to buy the factory sensors ( from the posts on here, the factory sensors are the only ones that will work with the 20202's ) and then have them "re-programmed" every 6 months are the dealer.

    What a pain.

Interesting experience with my 2020. I bought another Yota TPMS sensor when I put together a full size spare. After the 5 tire rotation was done with one old off and new spare installed I got the TPMS light. I did the reset and got the calibration in process screen and drove around for 5 mins or so and not only did the TPMS light go off but it actually registered the new spare as well in some form Yota engineering brilliance. A scan tool was not used to register the sensor. All systems have been go for last month and ~500 miles. Still seems hard to believe that Toyota made the system this smart now. Any technicians can confirm this new learning feature and what year this started?

Did you turn back around and tell this to fix it? No way I would have left without them fixing it.

This is how I thought the system would work and the reason why I bought New Toyota alloy rims (300 miles on them) was everything would be factory. I have Tech Steam and have the IDs of my original set of sensors. If I got the new Off Road tire/sensors learned in I could pull the sensor IDs and change the sensor IDs when I swap rims.

Sorry for the delay just saw this @Drifthopper So yeah there was controversy because Sparks Parts website and OEMpartssource website both presented the wrong TPMS sensor at the time for the 2020 and aluminum/alloy. www.oempartsource.com is where I ordered and they caught it and directed me to the proper part no for aluminum/alloy wheels. Matched my local Toyota dealer parts desk info as well. Part number I bought and installed was: 42607-06030

I still needed to grab the TPMS install nut kit from local Toyota dealer. I use the local GMC dealer for the big tire, rim and alignment work because they have a significant lifted truck business so they have have the means to align and two technicians that are well versed in all the ins and outs of a lifted truck. They also seem to enjoy seeing the Tundra roll in.

Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total
    42607-06030 Tire Pressure Monitoring System Sensor $60.68 1 $60.68

I do not understand why this is the correct TPMS sensor when all it has to do is broadcast at 315 Mhz. Is it a fitting issue on the alloy rim ?

I went out and bought a Autel TS508 to find out why I had such issues. Found out my new to me 18" Off Roads have good sensors but needed to use 2017-2018 alloy wheel in order to read them. The other thing that I found was the coding is different. They both broadcast at 315Mhz but the older style uses a 8 digit hex and the 2020 uses a 7 digit hex . My left front on the older 18" is ADD47AD6 and my 2020 is 9599DE0. Now I know why it will not work and why I have to buy new sensors if I want to make it read and learn when I swap tires.

This is the info off of my Off Road wheels. I have to see what is up because the info I am receiving is not the same as last night. both seem to have a 7 digit hex code.

UPDATE: Found out I was picking up info from my original tires. I had to move my truck and also needed to select 2012-2017 Alloy wheels. There are in fact 8 digit hex codes.

    Starting to go cross-eyed here...

Got a 2020 pro and want to pickup a set a off road rims (for winter use) with the OEM TPMS still installed. What year rims/TPMS will work with my truck?

    cheers

Yep..... I got crossed eyed too..... and gave up.

I got a 2020 Limited with push button start, i searched and read on these forums for months, because i wanted to get a set of winter tires are rims.

well.... after reading conflicting posts, whether the truck will read an additional set of sensors, i just put regular rubber valve stems in the rims and mounted the tires.
i took my 20" stock summer tires and rims off, and just put my snow tires and rims on.
My light is on, but its not bad, and after a while i really don't notice it any more.

Read / search the posts on here.

from what i have read, the only sensors that will work with a 2020 with push start are 2020 sensors. someone posted the part number.

But then, there is still the question on whether you have to get them programed or not.

the sensors that came with your truck are programmed for your truck, then if you get another set of sensors, the original sensor will have to be un-programmed, and the new sensors will have to be programmed.

And.... Thats every time you change rims....!!! the dealer gets $120 for programming / re-programming.

Or you can buy the $200 - $300 tool to do it yourself.

Hopefully others will comment will other results,,,, but that why i just put regular valves in my winter rims.
Having the light on isn't that big a deal for me.
And i wasn't going to spend $300 - $400 more for sensors for my winter rims.

so.... Too answer your question what rims would work,,,,,, I guessing if you could find a set of 2020 rims with sensors from a push button start, ( many guys that put their rims up for sale , remove the sensors ) you could try them.

Go over to the Ultimate OEM parts thread and ask Roman. Give him your year of truck, push button or key, etc. and he can tell you what sensor part number you need. Then you can buy the sensors separately, or confirm the part number on any new wheels you look at.

My snow tires are mounted, balanced, and on the truck.

If i do decide to get sensors for my winter rims.... I'll do the PVC canaster and put it behind my seat.

My understanding is that 2018+ have both a “Registering of ID Codes” and an “Initialization” procedure found in the owner’s manual. I was successful in doing both procedures to have my ECU “learn and communicate” with the “new” sensors in my winter tires set. So, it would appear that you could bolt on the respective TPMS Sensor for each respective year. 18-20 (non push start) will use use the same sensor for alloy wheels and use another for steel wheels. 2020 Push Start rigs use another for alloy and yet another for steel wheels. These sensors (2020 push start) are not compatible with non push to start rigs, period.

18+ rigs are smart enough to recognize what sensors are “rolling” inside a tire. They will not be confused or be “picking up” signal from a take off set in the garage and not by a PVC canister mounted/placed in/on the vehicle.

Omg... this is getting even more complicated. I bought a set of 18” steel wheels from a 2015 tundra SR. I want to put snow tires or just a set of tires that do ok in snow on them. The point is more to keep the salt off my 20” alloys that came with my Limited 2017 to keep them looking good as long as possible.

So in addition to sensors, there are different sensors for steel wheels vs alloys???

-sigh- looks like I’m gonna just live with the light on...

Im with you about just dealing with the TPMS light on all the time. This has been the biggest pain in my a$$ dealing with this on my 2020 Tundra SR5 non push start. After getting some aftermarket Method wheels Ive had nothing but issues dealing with the stupid sensors. Have been to the dealer twice, back to Discount Tire 3 times and have read countless threads on this issue. I actually traded in a F-150 Platinum, because I wanted a truck with the least amount of tech but I can't believe how "smart" these sensors are in the Tundra:crazy:

I can’t blame Toyota... the sensors are a federal mandate, but yea, they should find a way to make them more user friendly. I have 2 sets of tires, each with their own set of sensors. I swapped the winter set out and Discount Tire did the reprogram. All good I guess, but sure would like to do them myself.

yeah I get they are federally mandated but I have had a dozen or so vehicles in the past 20 years and have never had as many issues with the Tpms sensors. I’m currently trying to determine if the ones I have (aftermarket) ones just won’t work?? Toyota claims they aren’t compatible with my truck but I’ve seen multiple people get aftermarket ones programmed. Who knows??

There are different types: for steel and alloy, but there are different models d’or different years too. If they sold you the right type, they should work. Discount sold me mine for the steel wheels/winter tires.. they worked just fine, just have to program the computer when I swap them. My guess is they sold you the wrong type.

I had an old Buick in my youth that had a couple warning lights- I pulled the dash strip off and popped the bulbs with a screwdriver (I have since matured immensely).

I have a 2015 Tundy with 20” Fuel Assault wheels. I need to replace the sensors but would rather order them myself then have Discount install them. I’ve read there are differences in angles (20 vs 40) and steel vs alloy. Any input on what I should order for these Fuel Assault wheels? I’ve emailed Fuel twice but they haven’t responded. Help!

I’m still trying to confirm the part number needed for a 21 limited with push button start so I can add sensors to the 2019 PRO wheels I just bought. Any help would be appreciated
