What’s the best tire dressing for not slinging all over the side of the vehicle?

Almost any you apply by hand rather than spray on (meaning the thick foam stuff). Armour All extreme is oil based. Harder to remove with washes, which needs to be done. Many other water based products are out there as well and wash off easier. Some water based ones last longer than others but oil based last longer than any. I found my tires got dirtier easier and harder to clean with the oil based product though. I currently use a chemical guys product and apply it to a sponge thing and apply them to the tire.

Edit: I have not had slinging with either of these. Only had it with the foam spray on dressings

What I have used for years and years to dress tires is Mop and Glo floor wax. No kidding. It lasts forever, won’t sling all over, gives a nice shine. But if you s rub a curb it shows a bit. But, just recoat it. Use a rag to apply and wear gloves or you’ll have shiny finger nails!

This right here, I use it on my truck and wife's car. Apply it with a microfiber round pad. Takes about a minute or 2 per tire to wipe the excess off but it doesn't sling at all. Plus it's beneficial to the tire instead of just being an oily shine. I use it on my tonneau cover too.

My Mustang had black wheels and if the tires weren't shiny black to match, it changed the whole aura of the car. I used Meguiar's wipe-on stuff. Lasts 10 days or so realistically (total daily driver, 25k miles a year). Smells good too. It can be messy though.

I'd never been a fan of aerosols, but recently have had success with Griots Black Satin. They call it a coating...it isn't. It falls somewhere between a coating and a dressing, and it's longevity supports that. I apply a light spray, and then spray a little on an applicator and work it into the tire. One coat will give you a nice finish....not matte but not glossy either. I've gotten 3-4 weeks out of an application.

Optimum tire protectant....got it off Amazon for 17 bucks....you dilute it 1.1 with water. Has rained all week and still looks like it did when I applied 5 days ago.

Mop and Glow used to be a trick people would say for restoring old/faded 4-wheeler plastics (with the bonus off the mud coming off easier too). I'm curious to give it a try.

Good thread, haven't heard of a few of the products mentioned. Thank you.

Im a big fan of used motor oil. I put it in a pump sprayer and coat the tires and wheel wells with it liberally. It lasts a long time and the shine is fabulous. Only slings a bit at first but definately don't do it in your driveway ...unless you are a renter.

It does not sling (if you give it time to dry). What else I like is some of the other tire dressings seem to attract dust. This does not.
Also the shine is there, but not the really hyper gloss with some others. If for some reason I do want more gloss, I add a second coat.

Plus I use it on my trailer tires to help prevent rot before I wear then out.

Jk, most all of these suggestions are good. Had nothing to add but sarcasm.

If you dont like slick look but want long lasting no fuss after application look into Optimum tire seal or Tuf Shine tire sealant. I have used Tuf Shine this last year and it lasts a long time. I am getting a good six months of use with just a light wash occasionally to remove grunge but sealant still there and tire looks fresh, just not shiny.

My first thought was WTF is tire dressing, then mud seemed like the most reasonable answer....

Stay away from any tire dressing that is not water-based. Solvent-based dressings can stain if they sling, and you will definitely see it on a white truck. If you have the patience and the time, a tire coating would be an option. Only thing is....tires basically have to be 'operating room' clean for the coating to properly adhere.

I know this was said as a joke. But there are some that go on like motor oil. They are thick, they sling and attract a ton of dust.
