I recently bought a 2006DC Limited with 198k. Drove it home and immediately replaced the timing belt so I didn't really have any seat time before changing the belt. I did the work and double checked the marks and all seemed good. Truck started fine and runs ok, but has what seems to be some valve clatter under light acceleration. No lights on the dash. I'm wondering if the timing could be off by one tooth? Would that throw a light or code? Any input is appreciated.

I've got valve clatter too. It's mainly when the engine isn't up to operating temp. If the alignment marks lined up, then you got it.

These trucks are a little noisy, almost like a sewing machine. The steering shaft seal is often shot by this mileage and this can increase the drivetrain noise you hear in the cab. Read about replacing it here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/diy-steering-shaft-seal.48664/

You could always put the crank at zero degrees, then pull back both the timing covers check that the marks on the cams are matching for self assurance.

I am still not done on my 04 and am so so nervous to start it up when I finish. This is my first timing belt job and I replaced other components.
Did your finished product look something like this?

Which is actually kinda funny, because Toyota also made embroidery, knitting, and sewing machines

This should be ok as your at top dead center but personally I did mine at the "T" marks which is meant for the timing belt maintenance. Important part is to move the belt slack to the left side where the tensioner is before pulling the pin.
