Timing Belt: Good or Bad

    Sounds like you've got a good fan clutch if it's not free-spinning, there should be resistance on it when cold, and even more when hot.

    If it's not making scratching or squeaking noises while spinning, the bearing is probably still alright, and if not wobbling, also good there too.

    Only reason I mention the bracket is because you need to tear down a fair bit of the same stuff to do the timing belt as the bracket, and by now, with the years and tens of thousands of miles most of our trucks have, we've been seeing quite a few people needing to replace their brackets because the bearings are shot. There were some people who were looking into only replacing the bearing, not the bracket, but not a lot of info on that at the moment.
