The back of the DC is just as big (if not bigger) than most regular sized SUVs.

That's crazy to me. I really only have the backseat of our passat to compare it to. Maybe I should just be happy with what I have. Il

So, were your knees poking in the back of the front seats? Was the front seat set for your driving, or someone else's? I haven't found a DC to compare, yet. Still looking.

BELIEVE me, I've considered going to another truck brand, Ford being first choice for me. I can get a new 2022 (dealer demo) 582 miles new, for $67,800. Which is a lot of money! F250 crew cab, 6.7 diesel. But I really don't need that big of a truck. We're looking to stay under 24' for a trailer, but that's right at the max tow capacity for my truck.

I went with a 2018 2wd DC, 38 gallon tank, 5.7L engine, TRD Off-Road package, LED headlights, etc. Rear seats have plenty of room for adults and children. I wanted the longer (6.5') bed and did not need 4wd for my needs. 2018 still has the transmission cooler. I wouldn't trade this Tundra for any other motor vehicle on the planet (5.5 years and 80k perfectly trouble-free miles).

Very nice! I like that blue! I want 4x4. And I want a matching fiberglass topper, and flat running boards/sliders. But DC's do not have the power rear window, correct? You have to manually slide yours open and close? Looks nice!

Limited double cabs have a power rear window. SR and SR5 have a manual rear window.

Pricing advice... there's a guy I know who wants $28,000 for his 2015, 128k miles, perfect condition TRD Pro 4x4 DC with ARE color matched topper, limited. Where does this price sit, fair, good, great? I'm thinking $22, 23k, am I off? Then my local dealer has a 2021 DC Limited w 33k miles and wants $47,999! And I'm thinking maybe $39,9? IDK.

What's the cost of a topper? A Pro has some bells and whistles, but it's really a SR5 with special badging and better shocks. At that mileage, the suspension is a moot point. Interior you might have upgraded stereo and Pro specific trim pieces. Engine, trans, diff, transfer case are all the same across the board. 28K seems high. It would need to be perfect for me to justify that price.

I'm currently stuck in and around an inflated market, and pricing doesn't seam to affect people around here. Damn near everything I look at is over priced!

Maybe not a popular opinion on the Tundra forum, but if you really are going to be towing a lot and approaching the tow limits of the Tundra, then an F-250 could be a good option for you. You should also consider the gas mileage you’ll be getting with the lower torque Tundra.

I would probably get a 7.3L gasser over the 6.7L though if I was just pulling a travel trailer, as DEF and other diesel maintenance adds up.

Also warrants a test drive. Some folks hate the ride due to the solid front axle.

Yes, I've considered MPG, and Tundra's, even my '05, is barely making sense. Ford diesels are floating around 17 mpg, with minimal load and not towing. But of course diesel is a bit higher and takes a bit more maintenance, yes, but I don't think the new 7.3 is better. Not certain though. The new 7.3 gasser is only 1,2 mpg better than the old Ford V10, at around 10 mpg.

Yes, mine does not have the power rear window (SR5 trim, not a Limited), only slides open manually. Funny, I have probably opened it once or twice just to check it out. When I was in the negotiating stage at the dealer they had the exact same configuration on the lot (color and everything) but 4x4. Since I was intent on 2x4, I didn't consider it. They found the Tundra I ended up with in Milpitas, about 3 hours away. The only other Tundra that was the configuration I wanted was in southern California. I took the one in Milpitas and had to wait a couple of days for delivery. Blazing Blue Pearl is what Toyota calls the color. There are literally dozens of tube steps/running boards/sliders to choose from. It took me awhile to wade through all the choices before I ended up with the tube steps you see there.

    Good luck with your search!

There’s a thread on the SD forums and guys are averaging around 11-12mpg towing with the 7.3 and ~7K loads or more. Diesel will definitely be better, but there is so much more cost to diesel engines.

I would be shopping for that Limited if has been taken care of and that's within your price range. $48k is definitely too high, but 2021 values are still generally high overall right now. Check what Kelly Blue Book says for your zip code.

My two grandsons who are 6’6” and 6’7” both have plenty of room when sitting in the back seat of my 2019 crew max. (Oh heavens…. Now I feel really old because they used to be in car seats in the back seat of my Suburban. Where did the time go?)

OP -find an SR looooooooongbed and do what you want to it. Lift, wheels, tires, air suspension, topper, whatever! That way it's exactly what you want.

....and it tows tiny trucks too!
