This is true however at least you have lift spring options for the 5100. That isn’t the case with the 6112 as far as I’ve seen. You pick the 650 or 700 pound springs, all the lift is done with the preload aside from maybe not compressing the stiffer spring as much. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

 

The difference is those 650-700 pound springs included with the 6112's are at least spec'd for the Tundra and with preloading in mind. Running 5100's the impression is you're able to run them on stock toyota springs. i only went up 1.25" with the lift and realized i still wasn't keen on the ride. A month later i dropped the perch right down so i wasn't preloading anything and used Eibach springs to handle the lifting which was much better.
That being said, I was reluctant to try the same system again but the springs are far better matched for the tundra and i've had a much nicer ride on 6112's

 

Are new bumpstops something I need to do or is that just kind of an extra? I was wondering about hard hits and if they could bottom out the shocks to the point of damage if the bump stops don't protect them. Not sure if this is a thing or not.

 

Some kits from Bilstein include a stack of washers to use as spacers on the stock bump stop.

 

For your use case probably not much of a benefit, but however if you do get them... it makes smashing potholes really fun lol.
