Some of the bull bars have a skid plate, wonder if it helps protect.

If you can buy aftermarket expensive front bumper then buy it. Otherwise this rough country bull bar is good option.

Good for looks, but hey it's all good (nice to mount a light bar). Once you take off your aluminum foil bumpers and see what they are really made of you will take them directly to a dumpster and toss them in. Steel bumpers for the win.

Nice whip! That thing would survive about a week where I live before the suspension destroyed itself.

Mine came with one when I got it. Not a huge fan of the chrome. I think it looks alright. Just not my style. Probably gonna put it up for sale soon.

I would only consider a real Bull Bar Bumper like an ARB or Custom fabbed unit. I had an ARB on my Taco with a Warn 8k and enjoyed knowing I could push, pull, or ram anything I needed. The ARB units are designed for your vehicles safety features to remain effective, and deflect any "deer/kangaroo" sized object out and away from the path of the vehicle during an impact.
Those bolt-on JC Whitney style bars will cause more damage than they can prevent during an impact.

    Function before sparkle.
I had an opportunity to test one with a deer. It absolutely deflected the deer down and out. Only damage after the 100 k/hr hit was deer hair and a cracked turn signal lens.

I put one on mine. The whole purpose was for looks. I always thought they were tough not until after I got it I researched it more and realized with install they are kinda flimsy.. I still like it a lot. With the Aries bull bar I was able to keep my tow hooks. I've seen guys take the skid plate off on the Aries bull bar so the tow hooks are accessible. I've tried to look everywhere but my question is with the skid plate installed if I do use the tow hooks in a recovery situation I see there may be a problem with the skid plate getting bent from the strap? Wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Also if I would use the front tow hooks I have d rings and a tree saver strap to attach to both for a 2 point pull as outlined the best way by ARB

Another question I've had was I've heard they can actually cause more damage in a collision to the vehicle but can it provide more safety for the passengers? This was also a reason I wanted one but again seems like it probably won't but wanted to ask if anyone has had experience with that too lol

Looks great. I think the only way to ensure that any animal will be road kill without damaging your vehicle is to drive a tank. I saw a 2500 (or maybe 3500 series) truck with a steel bumper with an absolutely mangled front end after hitting a large bull elk. Really just depends I suppose. A moose? Game over.

There is alot of actual engineering in the ARB design, it even has some special "crush" brackets that will allow airbag deployment during a severe high speed impact. Ive looked at alot of those big diamond plate bumpers people put on the 3/4 tons. They usually arent that stout, thin walled in the wrong places, and use substandard mounting. There are a few other company's that make badass bumpers, but I can vouch for the ARB. Knock on an ARB with your hand and knuckles a few times, and then one of those "mall crawler" look alikes to see what I mean. Hell I had to swap out the coils for HD coils after I installed that bumper due too sag.

Sensor will be fine. I had a Aries 3” on for a while and everything was good. It looks like there’s 2 screw holes for a license plate by the lower center gap. Unless that’s for a winch.

That is for a winch, and it doesnt look half bad. If is a mounting point for a winch than it is tied into the chassis pretty good.

I want to ask another question about the bull bar. I have the license plate relocation and on the aries bull bar I was looking to install some round off road lights. The mounting points are so close to the license plate and it looks like a 6 to 7 inch round light would obstruct the license plate. Has anyone had this issue? Very curious why aries would have manufactured the bull bar this way when they provide a license plate relocation.. in cali there are strict laws about front license plates
