Gives it character yes, but whichever we're into. I have a scratch through the primer that went goes down both passenger side doors that I now need to have re-sprayed. I use the 4x4 all the time, just limits my areas of travel because I like to go down tight overgrown trails. I don't want broken windows and more scratches that go through my paint.

Wranglers suck because I've owned a CJ. I owned a 09 Tacoma too. Most logging roads in western Oregon are rarely too narrow for a full size truck, even old ones. Do you think loggers only use Wranglers to get to the yarder?? I was wheeling on those same type roads for 10 years between Roseburg and Eugene all the way to Coos Bay to Florence before you were born. I'm going to sleep now. Don't be afraid to get that first scratch. Dents do suck.

Get it wrapped whatever color you want with a clear wrap over it. I've ran over dozens of shrubs hit tons of branches and all i had to replace was the clear wrap. tougher than any paint job.

I have considered this and have been quoted $3,500 for the wrap. If end up keeping the Tundra, I'll have it wrapped in 3m clear but I still need to have the doors repainted.

That's a good idea, but not cheap. Wrap it, keep it. all is good.

I had to get aftermarket fenders for my long travel. Just wrapped them the color of the trucks OEM paint. which hid all the imperfections then put a clear wrap over it. Also, 3m isn't the toughest stuff out on the market anymore. Although it is still the most overly priced stuff out there.

My wrangler could still go more places than my Tundra. I don't like to stay on the main gravel roads all the time, I like to go where most people would need to go by foot and a full size truck can't make it through, but I'm not into walking miles up a mountain or washed out mud road. Also, I have that first scratch and so far its going to cost $600 to repaint just the doors, not including the rock chips on the rear bumper, front end and fenders. If I'm driving a vehicle worth only 6-12k that is dedicated to hunting, fishing, off-roading, and a locking diff at a push of a button, then I won't have to worry about the vehicle like I do the Tundra.

you could just bondo the scratches then wrap it though and save a sh#* load of money....you'd probably be in the bondo and sand paper no more than 50 bucks max and even if you wanted a temp fix just cover the specific areas with wrap. your wrap shop you talked to should have some seam tape to make it look like it's not even there.

Also, just buy a locker then? My only concern with the tundra is building a strong enough front bumper and reinforcing the frame so I can run into baby trees and not care....That's why i bought the tundra. big massive=run stuff over

Yeah i could do the bondo thing, its a good option. The locker also sounds good but still limits my areas of off-roading because of dents and the size of the truck. I think its easier and more cost effective to buy a vehicle thats dedicated for the mountains and buy a car for everyday driving.

Wow guys you sure know how to take threads off topic these days. There are guys that want to go above 3" lift and those that want to lower. It's ok. It's preference. Drag racer, baja pre-runner, street queen, mall crawler, whatever. It's ok.

I say do it! 7" lift with 37s is easily achievable and great for offroading if you know how to, well.. offroad. Here're some pictures of mine..
