Got a pretty sweet "Predator" sticker on my back glass. Truxedo tonneau. AVS in-channel wind deflectors.
Good day all!! First post here (have been at Tacoma World while considering the '16 Taco, but leaning towards the Tundra, so here I am). From Louisiana, New Orleans area.
I'm in the market for a new Tundra and was just looking for some feedback on the offer my local dealer posed to me. I know it all boils down to what fits me (budget, etc.), but I was hoping to get some opinions from fellow owners.
I've owned an '08 5.7 SR5 CM 4x2 and currently own a '10 4.6 Base CM 4x2. I've thoroughly enjoyed both (purchased each used) and am leaning towards another (new this time). Here are some of the details:
    • '16 SR5 5.7FFV CM 4x2
    • Truck is not on the lot, but available and can be modified with requested options and can be here by end of January
    • Base MSRP (w/o options) is $35,665
    • Options requested are: Entune Premium Audio w/ Nav ($525), spray on bedliner ($529), SR5 upgrade package ($1220), Upgrade from steel wheels to 18" 5 spoke (about $910?)
    • Total w/ above options $38,789
    • Dealer's offer $34,861 (this includes the $1000 rebate)
    • Taxes, etc. are NOT included in above price
    • TrueCar states that this configuration would be an "Exceptional" price @ less than $34,420 and that the average buyer has paid $36,335
    • The $34,861 offered is $441 above "Exceptional"
    • NADA has the invoice price of the above vehicle @ $35,894
    • NADA lists a "used" '15 with 1 mile @ $34,875 ($14 dollars more than dealer offer) Clean Trade and $38,625 Clean Retail
Thoughts? Anyone think there is more wiggle/negotiating room, or is this a pretty fair offer/purchase price? I know I'm probably answering my own questions here, but just wondering if there are others out there that have consistently gotten better deals than the above and, therefore, believe I should re-evaluate the offer.
Thanks in advance for any feedback you may offer. If you have any questions, please throw them out there.
    Have a great weekend, y'all!!

    1. Looking at the numbers, it would seem your getting a pretty good deal. However, I'm wondering why your rebate is $1,000. I bought a 2016 Plat CM 4x4 in Alabama and my rebate was $2,000.

    2. Something you may not know is once you shake hands and agree on the price your going to talk to the "Finance" guy. He's the one who is going to do up the $$$ papers and offer/try to sell you on the extended warranty ($2,319.00) and maintenance package ($820.00). Both of these can total another $3,000. I ended up taking this package due to the fact that; 1. I owned a Tacoma and had serious issues with the AC unit (not my fault) and front end (partly my fault). Had I bought the extended warranty package it would have saved me many thousands over the price of the extended warranty. 2. The maintenance package at $820.00 breaks even in cost, but I like the piece of mind in that all my routine maintenance will be done by the Dealer I bought the truck from. With this I'll never have to deal with "Well if you had brought it to us.....".

So....why did I tell you about #2. Maybe with this knowledge you can use this to your advantage. "Mr. Salesman, I know you going to try to sell me on an extended warranty and maintenance package on the back end so lets try to shave a lil but more off that $34,861."

    Good luck!!!!

Thank you for your response @Armyretired25 . Always good information to keep in mind, thank you. Since my last couple of purchases have been "used" Tundras, I'm looking to see what the current market is for the "new" variety.
    1) Rebates change from month to month so the incentive may have been different at your time of purchase, and/or due to the Platinum edition. That's my best guess. The GST site lists the incentives and $1000 is the current offer for the SR5.
    2) The "finance guy" is actually a friend of mine and he knows not to blow smoke anywhere near my arse. I likely won't purchase an extended anything, but I may try and squeeze another option or two before making a deposit... if I move forward with the deal.
Thanks again for your time and feedback! Anyone else?

I went to TrueCar.com and found out what the "Great Price" is for my truck.
When we started negotiating, I told them I'd already done my homework and what my top dollar was.
You have to be willing to walk away if they balk at your offer.

There are enough Toyota dealers out there that I didn't have any reservations with my strategy and it worked like a charm.

Welcome to the site! Just for info, I bought my 2015 SR5 CM 4x4 with all options mentioned above except the upgraded wheels for $35K. So your number is definitely in the ball park. Maybe a little high.
