Exactly why I got on here and wanted to get everyone's input on. It's my first new purchase so wanted to see what's everyone paying for one since all the mark up are crazy high. My last tundra I bought used so I did not have any of that add-ons.

yep, big decision. Three more things to consider on top of the invoice you showed:

    1. As someone already noted - add the interest on top of that total. You can decrease that by making extra payments or even pay off early. But consider the worst case total

    2. Think about depreciation. Yes, shiny new is awesome, I've done it, is great. But the shine goes minute you drive off lot, depreciation is massive first year or so. Case in point - I just bought a 21, if my life changes and must sell won't be a huge loss. If change my mind and want to trade, will get raped a bit on trade but not a huge loss. Heck, I've traded within few years for almost what I paid.

    3. Toyota certified preowned. Actually longer than factory on the powertrain, the biggest cost. 7 years great for me because do low miles. I know there are loopholes but I've had great experiences. Toyota one of best brands for standing behind it.

I think Toyota is allocating bloated tundras with the extras..I got lucky to get a 1794 6.5 bed with just the auto steps which I needed anyways. But yeah there are a lot dealers without ma and some will not install their bs dealer add ons (tint, ceramic, nitrogen tires etc.)

Really up to you, if you like it, and you think the value is there then go for it, the forum has members all over the world so of course some may be able to get a great deal locally @MSRP or under vs others are sitting in land of 10k markups on all gen3 tundras. (That was me, unless I drove 1hr out of my local bay area silicon valley of Cali)

Ppl dont really finance like 90% of these values vehicles right? I sold my last truck and rolled it into my new one and after my last payment (got xmas holiday and bonus) - I only got like $7k left. Not sure how ppl live with $1k car payments, my mortgage is just a few hundred over that, and that does NOT depreciate.

Also reports in Oct/Nov that Toyota was slowing down Tundra production..

I feel like that value is there only because I've gone to about 4 different dealers and their mark up ranges from 5k to 10k. And yes if I do decide it'll be like $400 away from my mortgage lol

exactly, since all the dealers around you are 5-10k over (mine were like that as well 10k+) and you found one actually starting at $2k over, sounds like it would be easier to wheel and deal with this guy instead of the others asking 5-10k+

Id just go in and say I am not paying that 2k markup and that 700 paint fee and see where they stand, tbh your truck is only $2700 ADM vs the others at 5-10k+, until you get majority of dealers doing no ADM, its kinda how your gonna work the deals

Yeah I've tried getting the paint protection off but I guess that's a contract with this dealer and the company Cilajet. Only thing I can try again is bug them about the mark up.

Not many people have $77K-$85K on hand in cash they can spend on a new car or truck, those who do are either smart enough not to or so wealthy it represents a tiny fraction of their net worth.

So I understand it’s a theoretical concept to consider since it will be financed into a monthly expense. That doesn’t also doesn’t account for a trade in if you have a serviceable vehicle with trade in value and positive equity.

However; if your goal is to someday become the cash buyer who can pay cash, and not scratch the surface of their cash on hand then you probably shouldn’t finance a depreciating item for $77K over 5-6 years and end up paying $85-$90K total for it with today’s interest rates.

I would wait it out and drive what you’ve got if it goes A to B. Particularly given the direction the economy is moving. If you’re secure in your job and income, then there will most likely be deals to be had this time next year. If you’re not rock solid secure in your job, or your income is variable like a sales job it might be a good idea to live in a frugal manner for the next year or two.

Be patient, keep shopping, it may take a few more weeks, but you will feel better about another purchase and not feel like you are being taken advantage off. Lots of pork fat in this deal.
Lots of good advice, the fact is the market is improving for the buyer, and the interest rates are not kind to some.

Yeah I wouldn't want to cash out a 77k truck either but if I had a money why not. And like you said if it barely scratches the surface then I would.

Only problem with me is I'm some what of a compulsive person so if I like something I tend to buy, not good lol. But all of you guys opinions are great and I appreciate them.

Does the msrp really go down that much if the market crashes with better and lower interest?

I wish it was the case with the dealer I'm going too. But I messaged the sales person helping me that I'd be looking around for another dealer. I might just wait it out until the market takes a dive.

3.49 @ 60mo. But, that was October ‘22… through Toyota.
I took me a week to find a dealer with no markup. Locally, all were $5,000 to $10,000 over MSRP. Not paying that!
For 5K I drove 5 hrs round trip. That’s not a bad for a day, or week’s waiting.
No issues at all with the 9/22 mfd date Tundra.

Edit: Just read CA. Not all dealers are marking up. I’m in Northern CA, checked 5 states. Bought in Redwood City.

It is what it is though. But I'm sure I'll find something but my allocation on tundra is for the end of January, no obligation just incase I change my mind.

Yea same situation with mark up. I don't mind driving a few hours at all to save a few thousand. What state are you in?

Alright you're near Daly City, I have families up there. I might have them check redwood out..3.49 is pretty low.

Suspect since the fed has jacked up the rates since then, Toyota may hve followed.
The dealers are not selling as many vehicles, because of the manufacturing slowdowns, but I who of us can’t afford to bail them out with thousands of dollars over list?
Just don’t let them (whoever) rob you.

Toyota is offering either 4.29 for 60 months or 4.99 for 72 months. And yeah most of the dealer I've gone too either has one or two tundras. It definitely changed from last year

Those rates are through Toyota Financial, your Dealer has other financial institutions they utilize and with good/great/excellent credit should be able to get that lower.

No it's not that bad for his area, it's marked up 2700, his other dealers markup 5-10k again, different areas have different buyers for supply and demand lol

Yes the limited can get expensive I originally wanted the platinum but canceled because I realized I didn’t want to spend that kind of money 62000 so I went with the limited which has plenty of accessories non TRD 56000 and change and dealer got me for 900 and something over good luck what ever u decide
