Already had mine in the shop for a bad motor. It first wouldn't deploy, then it got stuck in the down position. Dealer replaced the motor and all is good now.

I was passing a new tundra headed the opposite direction yesterday, and watched the air damn actually deploy. Looked kinda cool popping out lol.

Does anyone know if the air dam works OK with the TRD skid plate? Also with aftermarket skid plates? I assume so, but just want to make sure. Searched but could not find it discussed. It seems like there are some TRDs with the air dam, but I don’t know if all TRD ORs include the TRD skid plate — I kind of think maybe they don’t, seems like I saw it as an added option. Thanks.

Works fine with RCI skid plate on my truck. I expect it would work with TRD skid but can't confirm.

I figure worst case if the air dam rips off, which I guess is possible, that’s what armor is for. Protecting the truck from itself is a new one though.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated!

Still trying to decide what skids I will get. Low weight and moderate protection is what I’m looking for. The TTunes trans/cat skid is only 18 lbs so I may combine that with a TRD skid or an RCI aluminum skid.

99 it seems kind of flexible and think it probably won't crack if you hit some sort of animal. Unless it is really cold think we have a good chance of having it survive a hit. Let's keep out eyes open as certainly someone is going to hit something as this is really low. Kid

I've mostly forgotten about the air dam all together.
Done plenty of oil changes by now-never once did I put it in "maintenance mode" for it, nor do I intend to.

I guess the only way I'll be aware of it is when it really breaks/snags on something and my dash lights up!
    :)

Yup, thats why we buy Toyotas instead of the recall plagued F150, Trans eating Chevrolets and anything made by deplorable quality Ram/Chrysler/dodge........

Does the Air Dam actually improve the gas mileage?
Curious if anyone has noticed a difference

So far I have not but my engine only has 3,000 miles on it. I have had other new trucks and it seems the mileage does not improve until after 10,000 miles.

I would assume if you did a lot of mixed driving, the difference would be minimal.

You can unplug it. Just reach down from above with the hood open. I ran mine unplugged for a few weeks and never got any error messages. Didn't pay attention to mileage though cuz I really don't get to worked up over what I get for MPGs.

At some point that has changed then, as the 2022's you couldn't just simply unplug the air dam. That's why CBI came up with an Air Dam Delete module as it's on the CANBUS.

Have 23 Platinum I-Force Max with air dam. It only deploys above 40F degrees and 37 MPH so snow drifts shouldn’t be a problem. Hit blowing tree branch in high winds and broke hinge and motor on mine. Toyota repaired under warranty and repair bill showed $1010 billed to Toyota Corp. Took 4 weeks to get the parts and had to put up with dash message until repaired.

I’ve got a ‘24 TRD OR. Installed a new bumper this past weekend and removed the crash bar/front spoiler. No error after unplug.
