Super easy to deploy while parked, simply hold windshield wiper switch in mist position for more than two seconds after ignition is turned off and within 45 seconds of ignition being turned off. Another way to deploy without starting truck is to just hit the start button three times with foot off brake pedal and then move wiper switch to the mist position for a couple seconds, spoiler will deploy.
Embarrassed to say, I didn’t think my CM SR5 4x4 had the deployable spoiler when I looked under truck when I bought it. Today I noticed what looked like a little electric motor down low in front of radiator area and was thinking what the heck is that thing for, looked at it with mirror and light bulb still didn’t go off. Crawled under truck and looked to see WTF and realized it’s hooked to a bracket that deploys the spoiler. It’s kind of funny because since I bought the truck I thought it exceptionally stable on the highway and didn’t need a stinking spoiler.
    I think it’s a cool gizmo.

Can you take a picture of the motor please?

I have made a workaround for a device of this nature in the past and curious if the same concept can be used on the tundra spoiler motor.

Just minor stuff. For example, Undercover bed cover, Tufskinz custom door sill protectors, and TRD air filters.
I too would like to see a switch to disable it at times.

Does the MY23 Tundra have a tow/haul button? Maybe try that

Appreciate it, hard to see the electrical motor itself but it does give me a general idea on the assembly. I'll try to see if I can pull up a picture or even maybe order one if it's cheap enough.

If you watch the C4 Fabrication front bumper install video for the 22' Tundra, you can see the front dam motor starting at 38:00 minute mark. They remove the motor and pretty much take it apart for the steel bumper install. They have to relocate the non functional motor so that it won't throw error codes.

I have to respectfully disagree with you. At first I thought the 2022 Tundra was a bit ugly, but it sort of grows on you and I no longer think that. I get many compliments on my 2022 Limited 4X4 OR from owners of Ford, Chevy, and others. As for problems, I was skeptical to say the least. I have had no problems at all with mine and have about 2,000 miles on it now. One thing is for sure, if there is a problem, Toyota will fix it. What counts is that you’re happy with your truck. If you don’t like the style of the front, but the rest is fine, change it. I have also noted some complaints/issues that wouldn’t be if the manual was read. Have a great day and best of luck with whatever you drive in the future.

Tried to get a bully bar installed on my 2024 limited today and was told it could not be installed because of the air dam. Here is what the tech said:

“The active air dam lowers itself and raises it self while driving to help improve fuel mileage. Unfortunately there is no way to disable it from Toyotas stand point without causing a check engine light.”

Anyone have any luck getting one installed?

I had my air dam unplugged for over a week and there were no CELs. It was easy to unplug.

I'm glad my 1794 didn't come with this contraption. I would have broke it busting thru snow drifts, yesterday.

I’m not positive but I heard that it doesn’t deploy under like 40 something degrees so hopefully snow isn’t an issue

I have mixed feelings and a few worries about this dam thing...
    1. Where I live driving into 55+ mph gusting winds are part of the deal. The truck is wonderfully stable and reasonably quiet at highway speed. The air-dam must be helping.
    2. Supposedly it helps with fuel economy, and I am satisfied with how the truck does in that regard. So, maybe I do like the air-dam.
    3. It actually tucks up and out of the way pretty well. That's great, but still my truck has this vulnerable plastic contraption in the front.
    4. Ripping it off in a snow drift is my biggest worry (just like @Matt2015Tundra said). I actually put a small coil of bailing wire in the truck for dealing with this scenario.
    5. Has anybody ripped theirs off? How did it go in the field? How much did it cost to repair?

We live 7 miles from the nearest pavement. Sometimes it takes 2-3 days for our county roads to get plowed in big snow storms. I bust thru 2-3' tall snow drifts frequently. In those situations, you have to maintain speed or you won't get thru. That front spoiler contraption wouldn't last around here. When I signed up for my allocation, I specifically asked for a truck without it.

You can always just remove the air dam even if your truck came with it. It's only 4 bolts. They remove it with the trd lift. My dealer just unbolted it, everything else stays on the truck and plugged in.

I am going to reinstall mine when I get time, just need to trim around the new sway bar drop brackets.
