Yeah, I was just hoping he'd buy one.. I've never personally been in one so I have no knowledge of that . Nor have I been in a mr2 . I drove them on Forza tho so I'm basically super qualified to speak on these things :crapstorm::crapstorm::anonymous:

The MR2 turbo (91’) was one of my favorite cars to drive. So. Much. Fun.

I have also been in a couple Turbo Supra’s, last time was a 97’ with a “few” mods. That car moved.

Yes. It's proven time and time again. Just because people on this site don't do dyno tunes, doesn't mean net positive gains won't be achieved. Check out this link.

Plenty of power can be had with just making the engine a bit more efficient at moving air. Just because there is an internal combustion going on, doesn't change the fact that an engine is an air pump. The more efficient you can get air in and out, the more power you will make.

No on is talking about increasing VE bud. VE is fixed based on physical limitations of environment and engine restrictions. My comment goes to the efficiency of how the engine runs from a calibration perspective. Most mass produced calibrations run VERY safe calibrations on any car, just to make sure that Joe schmoe and his uncle's cousins gas station crap gas will allow his car to run. This also goes into ensuring emissions are met, reduced NOX, etc. etc. My comment stems from someone taking a production LS, removing all emissions components and then dyno tuning for power. This means increased timing, higher octane fuel requirement, etc etc. Its very common to see 20-30hp out of a stock LS, just with a dyno tune for power. It's all over the internet. With our motors, my assumption is that more power potential is present due to the VVTi. VVTi will help keep the engine more efficient with cam phasing and pumping more air into the cylinders at a wider band. LS motors for example, are fixed at the rate in which they can intake air. You couple this with a better flowing intake and long tube headers, to help get some of the air in and scavange some of the air out(which I guess would affect VE to a degree), then dyno tune for power on 93 octane, I think some impressive numbers are available.

But hey... it't just my opinion....

what in the literal hell is this thing...?

My name Luis and I approve this message.

Oh for sure, not the best balanced cars by any means, but that imbalance as you push it to its limits and makes you shit your self a little bit makes it feel all that much sportier

Just sat down and watched it all, and he is so clueless when it comes to turbo cars it’s actually annoying. He’s has a few pictures of subies with out cat and muffler delete saying it’s bad because there are no gains but with a turbo car making the exhaust free flowing is actually kinda important... especially with how affordable Cobb tuners are for them.

On most modern Toyota, not really a big deal, no real difference, but the “preformance” motor that was optional in the 7th gen celica made power with rpm, like stock redline was 7 and a built one will push 8.5... so even with a stock 2zz celica, a header and a cai can help wake that thing up and make it quicker... due to being able to remove air from the cylinders better at high rpm when the valves are open for fractions of a second

Ehh... Scotty is kind of crengy after you've watched a handful of his vids, imo.

Maybe it was just the handful of vids i have seen but he seemed to state his subjective opinions really objectively.. And then theres the quick tips he does that he gives off the impression that its application is universal, or doesnt emphasize enough what vehicals are the exception to the topic.

I think one of those vids was how to brake loose the crank shaft nut or somthing by turning over the ignition while having a wrench wedged on the nut and chassis. Which theres nothing wrong with that exect i think he forgot to mention/emphasize the importance of which way your engine rotates.

Ehh.. Or maybe i just didnt care for him.. And his weird intro to his videos.

Scotty is too conservative about mods though. Love his videos but I must ignore his views on mods.

Also, a lot of modern cars have tuning perramiters built in with the maf and o2 censors.... not a perfect tune, but for headers and a cai, it will see difference in the computer and adjust things like fuel accordingly

Exactly. The ECM will always try and target 14.7:1 AFR unless it goes into PE. While targeting the 14.7:1 its on a constant feedback to modify injector pulsewidth. Only time it doesn't is when it goes into PE, then it targets a different AFR, generally much richer, so 12.5:1, and goes into speed density and completely ignores the MAF. So you can continue to increase the amount of air, until the fuel system can't keep up. More air = more power, always. Going with an intake and long tubes, you do increase the VE of the motor a bit, but most of that is due to the better scavenging of the collectors on the long tubes and generally the long tubes are tuned to length based on the volume of air of the motor. This means that when more air is pulled out of the cylinder, it creates a vacuum and if the intake manifold will support the pulse generated from the cylinder, it will fill more efficiently.

All of that to say that I agree...

To a point I agree. In some cases it isn't really the goal to make a monster out of a commuter car. Sometimes you want a commuter car but want the most out of it.

Quick example, my 05 GTI had 180hp stock. I'll be adding a downpipe and updating the tune next Spring and should land in the 260hp range. Not gonna go out and kill an M3 or anything but spending $1100 for about 60% more power will make my commuting a lot more fun. End of the day it's still an old commuter but cost less than cars it will keep up with.
