6112/5160. Ranchhand rear bumper and Valhallas Shields.
Up fromt I'm running 6112's set at 1.9, luckily at this setting my alignment is spot on and don't feel the need for UCA's. In the rear I'm running 5160s with 1" Coachbuilder shackles and a TRD rear swaybar. I do tow a tractor on a 20' flatbed trailer with a WDH and have only about 1.5" of sag when towing. Right now she's setting on 275x70r18s Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus. I feel The ride, stance are just right.

    Your budget is the limit..

I’ll be honest, I skimmed through the post, but you can always run 5100s up front, add a one inch shackle lift in the rear and fit 285/75/18 on those stock wheels you currently run.

Yeah, the 5100's are certainly a more budget friendly option that I'm considering.

I had 5100's on my 1st gen, and while the ride was a little stiffer it certainly wasn't what I would call harsh.

Anybody had both 5100's and then 6112's that can give a direct comparison to ride quality?

I’ve had Toytec adjustable coilovers that were built with 5100s, and I’ve had 6112s set on the top notch. I didn’t think either of them was particularly comfortable on the road but that may be due to the fact that I had them on the top setting vs using the middle and a shim on the top. I’m sure getting into rougher terrain offroad the 6112s would show their advantages over the 5100s.

Yeah, my understanding is that the preload of the top settings makes them noticeably stiffer.

I dunno about PA, but our roads out here in CA are getting to be like driving through downtown Fallujah. Actually "offroad" terrain is probably smoother.

I want keep some rake for towing so I would only go 1.9" setting

Talk to @memario1214, the 6112 really aren't much more if you don't have a coil on hand for the 5100. I recommend hitting him up for a quote for both options and then you can decide

Oh yes, PA is also notoriously among the worst for maintaining the roads in the nation. Might I also suggest checking out the Eibach Pro 2.0 coilovers. They also offer rears with remote res if that’s your thing. I’m enjoying mine. I find the ride much more enjoyable than my prior setups, the ride height can be adjusted with a spanner while installed on the truck. They ride and handle nice on road, but also handle what I would call rough stuff (I may have low standards) pretty much drama free.

A 5100 is always going to ride quite a bit firmer than both a 6112 or OEM. Just the way that they're valved!

If you are after something similar, but think that you're going to be sensitive to a firm ride I would suggest the Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 kit as @Silver17 recommended. They don't have quite the oil capacity of a 6112 so they can't take QUITE the beating, but still a solid piece of equipment. The only times I really won't recommend them is when someone lives in the salt belt states as we've found that they tarnish pretty bad in harsh conditions. Never had a seal fail though!

    Reservoir Kit - https://hotshotoffroad.com/products/pro-truck-coilover-kit-stage-3-4wd-14-21-tundra
    Non-Reservoir Kit - https://hotshotoffroad.com/products/pro-truck-lift-stage-2-14-21-tundra

If you have more questions though please shoot me a message or call us here at Hotshot Offroad. We'd be happy to help across the board.

I’ve got 1” (falcon coilovers) up front and 5100’s (no lift) in the rear. I think the crewmax looks better (at least less nose high) when there is still rake present. Where the DC you can get away with a “true level” without it looking nose high.
Just something to keep in mind.

This is 5100 on middle setting with slightly larger tire. Sits 3/4” higher still in rear. Ride to me is just like stock.4FB19FF3-DC40-465D-A6C2-3A2246CF819D.jpg

Your truck sits perfect. Was going to do 5100 with .50 shims and CB shackle. Get the 3-1 look. But I just got new tires and think it would be too high and I don’t want to upgrade them yet haha. Figure maybe I’ll skip the shims and CB and just get the 6112 and 5160 like you. Deff want to keep a small rake. Any issues with your TSS sensor? Any other pics?? Thanks!

I’ve heard upper control arms are needed with a 3” lift up front. Was told it won’t hold alignment. Truth to that?

I figured as much haha. My goal was 6112 up front on the 3rd setting (1.9” lift). Trying to avoid having to do control arms. Currently have Toyo AT3 285/65/18’s.

Had the Toyota Service manager tell me the same thing, he owns the 2019 (or was it 18) Tundra and had a 3/1 lift, swears that TRD takeoffs are crap and UCA is a must or alignment wouldn't be straight.

Ok. Thanks. I’m mulling over two options. 5100 all around with CB shims and CB shackle in the rear. Or the 6112/5160 combo. For a few hundred extra, might be worth it to do the 6112. Trying to stay around 2k total (with install)and not have to mess with diff drops and UCA’s. I don’t do much off-road so not sure if I need the 6112/5160s. Decisions decisions.

I would say talk to Colton @memario1214 I am sure more than enough people picked his brain about it as 5100 or 6112/5160 is possible the most entry used set, so he might have some ideas to share, but it will be your call.

    I have 6112/5160s on my 2014.
Ended up with 2.5 of front lift.

    Made the truck pretty level.

If you're on the fence at all and can make it work into the budget of course, a 6112/5160 setup will treat you nicer every day in comparison to a 5100 setup. 5100s ride quite firm, plain an simple. At least in comparison to other options out there. If someone is looking at the "budget" option similar to that I am often looking to something like the Eibach Pro Truck Stage 1. That aside, you can get a levelled look in a 2.5G Tundra with 6112s and 5160s without having to do anything else if desired.

A truly levelled Tundra looks nose high (my opinion of course) due to how the body/roof/hood lines and wheel well openings are constructed so you can get all of a levelled look at the 1.9" setting. You won't need to mess with new UCAs, and won't need to do anything as far as a diff drop is concerned. It might be worth looking into a small carrier bearing drop, but that is something that could be addressed easily later if you have vibrations.

As @RobertD graciously pointed out we'd love a chance to help you source components over here at Hotshot Offroad, and I am happy to answer any questions that you may have. You can shoot me a message here, or feel free to call anytime 406-936-0206.
