I totally thought the bumper on your tacoma was ARB for a moment. That’s some good looking work!

Nice! Congrats on your baby. I have a couple young kids too that slow the process. I also have the arb front bumper. I feel it’s a simple bumper that will be pretty easy to easy to match the rear. I’m just thinking about my plans at this point cause I have to finish refinishing my wife’s horse trailer first. So I probably won’t be able to start bumper for a month or so.

Are you going to go for high clearance in the rear?

So the plan with the 2x6 rec stock is to build the rear bumper with the material on edge. I will cut the box straight forward to the fender from the highest I can go up the the tailgate. The original bumper is a little over 9” tall. So it will be a few inches more clearance. I will also build it so the 2” top edge is exposed (shorter than stock for better approach angle also) I thought about laying the material flat as I will with the sliders, but I feel this will match the front arb bumper much better. Plus I need a trailer receiver also which will be integrated instead of hanging off the bottom.

Also I don’t know if I’ll make it square or angle the rear piece yet for more clearance. I’ll figure it when I’m figuring haha.

Any updates on the custom built bumpers, or is this a dead thread?

I’m almost finished fabbing my rear bumper. I’ll still add before bedliner is a couple recovery clevice lugs and steps on the sides of the bumper. Didn’t quite go with my original plans because I tweaked design as I wanted more departure angle. Pretty happy with the results. I just started my sliders this weekend as well.
