    Everything. Literally.
    Don’t do it!!!
Your ride is SWEET man. Garage that bitch and get a Subaru or a 4 banger that gets 30 mpg.
You’ll never get what you should for it.

I was in the same situation. Picked up a 2008 Subie for 3500 from a dealership, insured it with liability only, and I use it when I have to drive to bumblefuck for work.

Don’t do it, man. You’ll regret it.

I agree 100%. I would never trade my Tundra as I know I would lose my arse. It will be party all the way. I may pick up a Civic and keep my Tundra. The shopping begins tomorrow at 9:00am. The Tesla is used and I have a great offer for it at $79k but the Civic option sounds better.

Drove my lady’s VW Jetta today because she needed the truck. Absolute pile of pants, great on mpg but uncomfortable as f*ck. Hopefully won’t be driving that thing anytime soon. Yuck worse then dingleberries

That doesn't make sense. Sell a 45k truck and buy an 80k car to save money on gas? Sure, you will save 100% on gas, but 35k will buy a lot of gas!!

I would buy a civic or a Camry hybrid. You could pick up a 2012 Camry for 12-15k depending on mileage and they get 40mpg.

I just hate to see you sell a great looking truck and regret it later. Been there, done that.

Even at 79k, that's nuts. I would just get the civic or whatever you are comfortable driving, I'm 6'5" so it wouldn't work for me. Suburu if you need all wheel drive for whatever climate you live in. You will still be better off.

Yeah that doesn't make sense to spend 40 more grand on top of what you get for your truck all "to save money". Spend 5-10 grand on a small car and you're good with a lot more money in your pocket and the truck you love and something to save you gas

Keep the truck and go buy you a beater. Should you trade the truck in the stealership is not going to buy you dinner first nor will they give you a kiss before they screw you on the deal. Keep the truck.

Around where I live, gas is $2.25/gal so that’s about 15,500 gallons. At roughly 10-12 mpg (what I get) that’s 155,000 to 185,000 miles. Depending how many miles you drive.... for ME that’s about 20-23 years of driving. Just to break even. Just adding fuel to the fire so you’ll keep the truck :D

Exactly geno, funny majority is suggesting Honda. Keep it in the family. My brother drove a Corolla, put 750k before he finally let it go. Definitely keep that Tundra.
You could go this route. Just sayin

Is this the first time selling a car? Asking what you should sell it for is not really the right approach to selling a car. You have to do the research to find out what it could sell for then list it slightly above that for room for negotiations. Because the buyer always wants to feel like they won in a deal.

It's not that hard. Go to all the used car websites, search for your same truck within your zip code or 100 mile radius, make a quick excel sheet noting the year, mileage, price, etc, then you'll get a pretty good idea. You can also go to KBB, Edmunds, etc. The aftermarket stuff won't increase the value at all so don't consider that.

Or are you planning on trading it in to a dealership? They will probably offer you at least $5000 less than what you could sell it privately, but you can negotiate that.

    Good luck.

If you want to sell because you aren't trying to drive a Tundra - do it. Iff you think buying and driving a Tesla will overall save you money via gas mileage after the price difference and lost value... you are sorely mistaken.

I just did a savings calculation assuming you will buy a new Tesla for 70k, sell the Tundra for 46k, and drive 1k miles a month at current gas prices. It would only take you 197 months to break even :)

Like many others have said, keep the Tundra and buy a cheap fuel efficient car to use as a daily. That's the main reason I picked up my '99 Corolla five years ago. I paid $3,000 for it and have probably put another $1,500 in it for maintenance items. Buying that car was one of the best purchases I've made. I've basically had 50,000 trouble-free miles out of it and plan to get another 50K out of it, and hopefully more.

Thanks. We're definitely a Toyota family. Our last eight vehicles have all been Toyota and we don't plan to change that trend anytime soon.

It was an interesting day of shopping. I was offered $44,500 for my Tundra but decided not to pull the trigger. I knew the minute it was gone I would regret it. So I am now shopping for a commuter car and will roll my Tundra for stress relief ;)

Best decision I could have made.

Also remember that just because the Tesla doesn't use gas, does not mean it won't cost anything to drive it. When you see your electric meter spinning like a top you may re-think your decision.

Okay folks. Let's pull out the calculators and figure this out.

Buying a $10k commuter car to "save money on gas" doesn't really make a lot of financial sense.

The national average gasoline price is currently $2.48/gal. Assuming your Tundra gets a combined city/highway 13 mpg (a little lower than most here, but this is a conservative estimate) that $10k could buy you 4,032 gallons of gas. You could drive 52,419 miles in your Tundra for same cost as that commuter car. ...But Wait. There's More!

You don't have to have insurance, registration, state inspections or pay excise tax for gasoline, but you do for cars.

Not factoring in insurance, registration, etc. you would have to drive a 35 mpg, $10k commuter car 83,394 miles before it would start saving you any money at all. The difference in maintenance cost (oil changes and tires) for any two reliable vehicles over that time period would likely be negligible when compared to the cost of fuel. This is a conservative estimate. If you typically get better than 13 mpg out of your truck (I got 17 on a long trip once) then the break-even point is longer. (Replacing a 17 mpg truck with a $10k, 35 mpg car doesn't break even until 133k miles!)

Either drive the truck and enjoy it or sell it and get a commuter car. It makes no sense to keep it and tell yourself you're saving money by buying and driving something else.

Of course, if you just want a 2nd vehicle and you can afford to keep both then go for it. Just make it fast, sporty and non-electric or I'll be disappointed in you.
