From a really practical standpoint, nothing. The interior might be considered by some to be a little fancier, and there are more options on the instrument panel display.. You can see the oil and trans temps and stuff... The truck does have some get up and go but it feels like shit on the highway going faster than 70 MPH.

I also absolutely HATE that little turn-knob gear selector that Dodge/Chrysler use. Makes it feel like a toy, and not a cool toy.

I travel ALOT for work. I drive a lot of rentals. I have executive status with National so I get to drive "nice" cars. I'd take a new Suburban over a Ram Rebel any day of the week.

Lol. See, look at all the stuff that the Rebel has over the Pro.

    I'm sold.

How much does the OP want for his Pro again?

OP1 I understand if you made your decision and bailed from this thread. If not, this IS a really cool comparison video @1UPPER found that puts the PRO and the Rebel about neck and neck. They break it down so well, you could actually apply the results to the way you actually use your truck. Good luck with your decision. And... if I had to get a Dodge... I guess this'd be the one to look at

The rear suspension on the Ram alone is way, way better for daily driving, isn't it? Archaic leaf springs for the Tundra and a semi independent rear suspension (5 link with coils, I think) for the Ram. I don't know, but I test drove a 2017 1500 big Horn today and it rode substantially better than my 2008 tundra. Wasn't even a comparison. It also had a way better interior, and smarter, useful features....but that could have been the 9 years of difference, haha.

I totally agree that I'd trust a Toyota over a Dodge in long term reliability and resale value, though. Depends 100% on what you desire more.

I traded a 2008 Tacoma xsp package double cab, that I bought brand new, for a 2006 dodge 2500 with the 5.9 Cummins. Worst mistake I've ever made, vehicle wise.

Loved the Cummins, hated the piece of shit they stuck it in.

Dodge is a raggedy pile of shit!!!!!

You couldn't pay me enough, to trade my Tundra for Dodge. No way Jose!!!

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
I am speaking from my point of view, not the typical consumerist's POV.

Lexus is definitely a remarkable manufacturer, I plan on getting one eventually for a DD (getting tired of my G6).

When someone said "bells and whistles" I was thinking of electronics primarily (technology). (New) technologies have so many issues, believe me, I work on technology issues everyday. :smash:

Cooled and heated leather seats, power locks/windows/seats, Stereo system, 'smooth ride', are all definitely luxuries I would love to have but do not need. These type of things are almost not even luxuries anymore though, IMO, more like standard equipment.

Regardless, the more complex something is, the more points there are for failure.

Overly complex is not always the best approach for reliability. However I guess some people are willing to sacrifice reliability for "bells and whistles", not me! Too many student loans to pay off. :(

We had opposite issues. I had more motor problems than truck problems, but still had a boatload of chassis problems. I had the 04.5 Cummins 600.
I totally agree with what your saying though.

Lexus is top of the game with reliability and tech, that is my point. You can have both.

Still need to find out the "tech" the Rebel has over the PRO.

    Nice Voltaire quote as well.

I'd ask for waaay more for your pro.

    And then I'd keep it.

Honestly, if you're in the habit of or planning on making a habit of getting a new vehicle every 2-3 years leasing isn't a bad option and neither would the Rebel be - if the bells and whistles tickle your pickle enough.

That just isn't my thing, so I'd go with the longer reliability, and higher resale of the Tundra. Especially since you have a Pro.

k I decides to keep the PRO.i mean what would happen if
the power fold windows stopped working(like the pro)
the heated seat and steering wheel stopped working(like the pro)
projector headlights and L.E.D fogs went bad(like the pro)
    power pass seat(like the pro)
    power moon roof(like the pro)
    keyless(like the pro)
duel zone heat and a/c (like the pro)
    L.E.D bed lights(like the pro)
if all this stuff stopped working what would I be stuck with?besides better gas mileage and a lower payment.
Toyota says I don't need any of these thing for 47,000$ who am I to argue with them
maybe I should just park the truck and ride my bike nothing could go wrong with that!

My dad worked 25+ yrs and retired from Chrysler. Owned one Jeep vehicle for 6 mos. before taking it to a GM dealership to trade. First and last time he made that mistake. ALL other new vehicles were GM. Always caused him grief at the plant, but he didn't care. Always felt they made inferior products.

My 2 cents.....been in the Autobody trade 32 years....i know first hand how Dodge Rams are constructed....we disassemble them to repair them.....WOULD NOT OWN ONE ....THEY ARE THE BIGGEST POS of all trucks produced ...Cheapest materials...worst engineered....total GARBAGE !!!!!!

Very true. If you look at what Toyota can cram into a 25k Camry, you have to ask yourself why they have so little in a >40k Tundra. I think the Ram offers more amenities for the money. I bought a Toyota despite the Ram riding better and having more amenities. However, it would be nice to have heated seats in an SR5. Or auto headlights. I had a <25k Mazda 6 that had way more equipment.

I have complained about the very same thing.....BUT as my post above yours explains...Dodge is GARBAGE !!!!...And the majority of them built in Mexico....states that on the vin tag in door jamb....i will stick with my "Made in Texas" Tundra. .and it's RELIABILITY

I don't disagree with you. As I have stated, I drove a ram for 3 weeks last year for business and know it pretty well, but still would rather have a Toyota. All I am saying is that Toyota can put a lot of equipment into a 25k Camry, but Tundra gets nothing. Come on Toyota, give a little to keep up with the Domestics and your own vehicles themselves. It wouldn't cost them that much since all the parts bins are there.

If those amenities were that important to you, OP, why the did you buy a Pro (instead of Platinum or 1794)?

My next door lady 'used to' have a Dodge minivan which opened its sliding doors randomly (even in rain). She said she didn't understand why it did that. I see open sliding doors at times in parking lots and every single vehicles I've seen has been a Dodge. I would not trust their electronics quality control.
