Wow values really are crazy right now. Even my 2014 with 120k i could sell for more than i paid back in November.

New trucks here in the Portland area are nearly non-existent. I looked around on dealers websites to see how bad the markup was and saw one dealer with a single Raptor at close to 100k.

Selling now at a high trade market will be good, but when the new model comes out there will be demand and dealers will not negotiate, so you will be buying high also, and then you will also have a new monthly payment that you will not have if you just keep your paid-off truck.
Using the truck's money to pay other debt is good for the short term, but long term if you are really set on buying a new truck when they come out, it may not be a good financial decision.

    Neighbor couldn't help himself.
Was at his F*rd dealer for a service, and left with a new truck instead. The deal was that good.
I'm thinking that if you want to trade or trade up (as he did) the market is yours to take advantage of.

Its funny how people convince themselves spending more money on a newer vehicle is a good idea. These same people claim they will drive it forever (which actually means 2-3 years) then they trade it in a get another new vehicle. For the OP, if you have debt on something that is not earning you income then definitely sell the 2015. Take half the money you get from the sale and find a decent used 2nd gen. 2007-2020 are all the same trucks so it really doesn't matter, the people you are trying to impress at the stoplight next to you with a newer truck could really care less.

The local Toyota dealership just emailed me asking if I'd sell them my wife's 2013 Corolla. She said not even if they offer us $30k for it.

You aren't crazy. Sell that thing, pay off some debt and stack cash for a few years. I honestly don't think, if you go that route, you would ever regret it. My .02

I can make a good argument either way. I paid cash for my 2019 CM but sometimes I just want a little Prius to scoot around town. Yeah, judge me all you want, having a small daily would be sweet. Tundra too big for daily driver and parking lots and such.

We still got the kids in cars seats so Tundra very good for that and family road trips with all the kid gear. I love the truck and on a nice sunny day, all windows down, mullet blowing in the wind, it's sweet.

But still want a Prius too for 95% of the time. Keep the Tundra for lake, camping and DIY stuff like that.

If you're selling to make money the dealership is the last place I would go. Put it out on the private market to get maximum value.

    This is an interesting topic.

No judgement from this peanut gallery. We have a 2019 Tundra CM (that I primarily drive) and then we hav the wife's 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Best of both worlds as for the around town stuff we use her car and that wonderful 44mpg in town we get. :D

I did this too and while I did like the Prius more than I imagined I would it also drove me carazy as there was just no way to make it practical enough for me in the end.

I tried a Fit (The Tiny Car) and a CRV and finally found a nice AWD Element as my smaller ride and while it does not get 44 mpg at all it is an amazing and useful alternative for me!

Also my Sprinter gets around 30 mpg which is pretty amazing in its own right!

I'm hoping to eventually replace the wife's 2013 Corolla (~30 mpg) with a Corolla hatchback or similar so we can have both efficiency and practicality.

I’d say, if you don’t need your truck and could see better use of the money. I’d sell the truck. I’m also in the same boat as you, but still making payments to the truck. I’m looking at starting up my own business and up in the air about selling the truck to free up cash for downpayment and monthly cash flow. Knowing that I will need a truck to haul inventory makes it difficult to see for me.

Way too cramped inside and I could never get a decent seating position either!
I even bought the Extend-My-Seat extenders which gave me plenty of leg reach but the seating position is known to be an odd design thought to be modeled on a tiny asian woman's butt from what I have read and it felt like it too!

Also there was such limited space inside despite seeming roomy at first that I just could not carry what I need to every day no matter how I tried to configure it all.
Admittedly I need to be able to run service calls from all of my vehicles and a truck is not what the Prius resembles but even the tiny Fit had much more work friendly features for me.

Mine was a 2005 Prius with 4k miles on it that I got in 2017!
    4K really!
The only reason I bought it really is that it seemed to good to be true and in most ways was really amazing.

The local Honda dealer sent us a letter looking to buy our 2018 Odyssey. I looked and it’s worth $30k in the private market which is pretty cool bc we paid $35k for it 2 years ago. We have no intentions of selling it as it’s been great for trips and what not. That’s just another example of the dealer looking for good used cars.

I am really glad I bought my 20 Tundra over Memorial Day weekend otherwise I would probably have to wait until the fall or winter to get a new Limited in Cement.

Well I can tell you the offer I received. Over the phone after I sent pics they offered me $28,500 for my '15 Crewmax SR5 with 62,000 miles. I thought that was a fair offer.... butnot good enough to sell

My last truck was a leased 17 Tacoma. I sold it to Carvana with 3 payments left and they gave me a check for $900. They bought it for $28,xxx with 30k on it.

Most manuf let you sell it at the end. They don't care. Sold my wife Acura ILX last week with 4 payments left to Carvana also. Got back a $1200 check.

Just keep it and drive it for the next 10 years or so. You will be way better off in the end.

I just looked on Carvana and found my truck for sale. They are asking $31590. How they make money, I will never know. For about 2-3k more you can get a brand new one. What even more amazing is that it has a contract already. They can't keep them in stock. I guess some people don't know how to do math.

Welp I sold it private party for only $6,000 less than I paid new. I hated to see it go and I am going to miss it but I couldn't pass that deal up. Here's to hoping the next gen is awesome. Going to drive something cheaper and save up.
