7443. Some bulbs don’t require a resistor. The bulbs I got from vled wound up not needing a resistor. This only applies if you have the oem led headlights.

Re-wired mine today. Thanks thomasbus337 for figuring this out, you saved me from almost buying some LED's, and now it seems a trip to the dealership. :hattip: Very easy fix and makes a huge difference in the brightness. One thing i found is that its easier to push the rubber plug out from the inside with a paperclip rather than to try to pry it out from the outside. Thanks again.

Not sure if this is related, Juts had mine fixed via recall.::
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 183,000 model-year 2018-20 Toyota Tundra pickup trucks

The Problem: The wire harness connected to the front turn signal bulbs was assembled incorrectly, causing them not to illuminate as brightly as intended and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will modify the wire harness connected to the front turn signal bulbs for free.

What Owners Should Do: Toyota will begin notifying owners by late mid-September. Owners can call the automaker at 888-270-9371, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

Thanks for doing this. Mine didn’t show it needed it when I ran the vin but it was wired wrong and was always dim. I fixed it in 10 minutes. 2019 limited.

Just did mine, took like 10 minutes, only because the passenger side is kind of tight to get to with the washer fluid tank in the way. Piece of cake and a huge difference in brightness

I guess my 19 has the campaign open for this. It will be getting done next friday. I have leds in there now. Hopefully this fixes it. I was about to swap pins.

After changing out the bulbs to a brighter LED we all find out that the reason for the dim light from the factory bulbs is a wire harness that was assembled incorrectly. I’m currently at the Toyota dealership for the Fuel Pump recall. The Service Advisor said that they were going to take care of the Wire Harness recall as well because apparently there is a remedy for it now. I didn’t bring my original bulbs that I took out. Maybe I can leave in the LED’s or they maybe will want to put originals back in. Will wait and see what the Service Advisor says.

They won’t touch it if you have leds in there. Either put filament bulbs back in or do it yourself.

The dealership didn’t say anything about the LEDs They left in them in and took care of the wiring issue !

I rewired the plugs on my 2020 tonight. It was an incredibly easy fix. Thanks @thomasbus337 for the info and videos showing us how to do it.

Did it myself over the weekend. It took 20 minutes, and was very easy. A couple of reasons I did it myself: I can, so I did. I don't trust the dealership to necessarily do even a simple task properly (I had visions of the min-wage kid they'd have doing the work losing the little rubber plugs and just shrugging, saying 'good enough'). The hassle of taking the truck to the dealership, taking the shuttle to work, being late to work, etc., would just have taken more time than doing the work myself.

Just swapped the wires over on my 2020 and they got much dimmer. Socket is wired exactly as the problem trucks... so I assume they went to a corrected bulb as a quick easy fix.

Do you have some pics of your headlights? Not all 2018+ come with the LED headlight option, so it's possible this fix doesn't apply to your truck.

    Thats probably it.
Didnt realize the issue was isolated to only the LED headlamp equipped trucks.
    No biggie.
Gave me an excuse to poke around under the hood a few mins.

Even though my truck is new, I had to "tug a little" at it to get it to come out. I used the tiny flat head to pop it past the 'locking tabs' then used a pair of needle nose pliers to remove from the plug assembly.

    None. Stock from the dealership.
Just got an Email from my dealership this morning about the turn signal recall, I called them and got an appointment for Friday, and I don't have to wait until September for it. Apparently they're busy, also going to do a safety check freebee at the same time. Referencing the parking light/directional signal thing, the bulb is dual filament, if they swap the wires that will still leave one filament unused (the one for the "old style" parking light) what do you think about wiring that filament to come on when the parking lights are turned on? I have no idea which wire to tap into (unless you guys know) so I thought I'd ask the dealership if they would recommend the change or not, and maybe even do it since they would be into it anyway. What do you think?

Dealership says anything YOU do to the wiring will void the warranty. Also he (Rich) was not to impressed with Toyota forums. So I dropped the whole conversation.

I'd find a different dealership. And a service manager that understands how warranties work.

Now I want a second opinion. Any ideas as to where to go for that? I bought the truck new from them and had no reason to doubt them before now.

The minimum wage lube kid wouldn’t be touching your truck. A safety recall is performed by a certified tech who cares a little more about attention to detail. At least I do.
