    Nope!
    If the battery is dead you can’t shift into neutral. Key turned to on, brake applied, nothing.
    2011, column shift. Had to roll the truck backward out of the garage to open the hood.
    Last automatic I had before this was a ‘96 camry, that would go to neutral with a dead battery. The little trim piece to remove and push to get you into neutral was just for not having a key, back then.
    Battery died dead, real dead. Sitting for two weeks, lots of corrosion. Jumper pack wouldn’t let it turn over. Pretty sure it was the factory battery so not bad!

    Ain't it cool? I lowered mine in the drive though the other night and the folks in the car in front were looking around like WTF..

    There's gotta be something in the operator's manual for the column shift....have you taken a glance?

    Nope!
    Oh you just pop the little square trip piece on top of the steering column and push down on the white plastic, shift away. But in previous Toyotas you could shift as long as the key was “on”
    Edit: Prett sure anyway...
