Sorry, edited my last post...when you headed back up? I'm going to be hunting this weekend in areas you went for your drive last time you were up here.

I had been looking at the truck since july hoping i could get it. Had to get through house painting before i could see what i could get done. They were awesome. Nothing but good reviews from me. Walla Walla sucks. Have to go at least 60 miles in any direction to get to another delearship and they know it so they charge ridiculous prices.

DC looks better. I don't like the chunky monkey look of the crewmax. As far as room for seating, the front seats are the same and that's where I sit. My teenagers fit and we don't take long trips in my truck. If we all have to go somewhere far like vacation or something, my wife takes them in her CRV and I ride my Indian. If they do have to be in the truck and are not comfortable, this will give them more incentive to go to college, get a damn job, and buy a vehicle they are comfortable in. I have girls, so they won't get too big to be uncomfortable anyway. It's MY truck. I love the bed space and the back seat is just as big as the back seat of my useless double cab Tacoma.

You use 1 piece rods? Curious what you target with them. The only time I use 1 piece rods is for Fraser River sturgeon. I'm over here going "2 piece rods suck. I need to upgrade all my fly rods to 4 piece". LOL!

I came from a long bed Tacoma and it took like 8 years for me to be ok with the look of a crew cab. I knew I would gave to get one eventually for a few reasons. So six weeks ago I did it. It took me about a week to stop looking at it like a truck. It really is just a giant jeep and I love it.

You crewmax guys can fit this in the backseat. Lucky! Us DC guys have to pass on that one. Darn.

Look like a fat bitch. If my kids kick my back seat, they go in my very roomy truck bed but I tie them to the deck rail cleats. Safety first.

What kind of roof rack did you get for yours? If that is yours on the right

I'm debating on throwing a Thule on mine for hauling the canoe when camping.

Yesterday the family was 15 minutes into a 90 minute drive and the friends we were meeting there had a family emergency. They were going to stay and we pick their kids up and continue on. My wife said "can you fit 4 in the back seat or shoukd we go back and get the Explorer? I'm like "do you see that cavern back there? Two of them can share one belt."

It eventually worked out as the original plan but they did all four get back there (two 11 year olds, two 13 year olds) without complaint.

I went with the crew cab this time. I loved the 6.5' bed in my Silverado, but hated the extended cab. After a lot of consideration, I figured I could much more easily compensate for the short bed than the small cab. I have a small utility trailer and a hitch extender. I can use those for work and play. I'll eventually add some sort of roof/ladder rack set up. Its a good compromise between needs.

It's a sheet of 3/4" ply with 2x blocking ripped down to hold the crate in place. Under the front I have two 4x4 feet to support the front of the platform on the center jump and floor board. I installed two eye bolts and run a strip over the crate to keep things together when the dog moves around. Finish is spray on bed liner. Works great to keep the board from sliding around on the floor mats.

Got the idea from my dad. He has a full width platform built, topped with carpet. No crate.

Thank you. I'm still trying to figure the best way to paint the recesses black and keep the outside red.

My Silverado was a Crew Cab Standard (6.5’ bed). One foot longer than a crew cab short bed truck.
