That's so funny . I can fit an 8' sheet of ply wood on the floor of the bed with that tail gate closed. :argue:

For the past 2 weekends I've gone tubing with about ten people. we just leave my truck down at the end of the river and when we get there we deflate the tubes and throw them in the bed then I have 4 people across the backseat with someone in the lap of at least 3 of them and 2 people in the passenger seat. Is it safe? maybe. Is it legal? absolutely not. Is it way over GVWR? hell yeah it is. Is everyone comfortable for the 45 minute drive? mostly.... :anonymous:

Other than the need to haul around a ridiculously large amount of people hidden behind tinted windows, I can still put my dirt bike in the bed with a kayak, chainsaw, gas tank, bar and chain oil, and a spare 6 lug Chevy tire for my friends who break down. haven't needed a bigger bed yet even though I really wanted a DC for the bed space. But I just haven't needed it so I'm glad I have a small couch in my backseat that reclines and a roll down rear window for my passengers to check the straps on my bike

If it's 45 minutes driving, for how long are you tubing down the river? :eek2:

its only a 45 minute drive because we take back roads, but its usually about 5-6 hours, sometimes 7-8 if the rivers really slow. we have pretty big tubes and we bring coolers speakers and lunch with us. its usually what we do after a party the night before. good way to just chill and relax for the day.

I bet you have some pretty good rivers out in CO. we just did the Zoar gap in Charlemont MA yesterday which is much shorter, only about 2 hours but its a lot faster and more fun. the one that takes a while is called Stillwater cause of how slowly the river flows.

I am unaware of any like that. Most are fast flowing rapids and cold ass water. There are some tubing places close to the cities, but not like what you have (that I'm aware of)

    Stature refers to height....not weight.

I stand 6'8". My family is tall. The back seat of a DC is a joke.

the two spots I mentioned are actually the same river. zoars gap is above stillwater, they're separated by a dam

A crew max can deliver more kids to a soccer game/practice.

More groceries will fit in side the cab.

You can fit twice as many cat carriers inside compared to a double cab.

All your bingo friends, their lucky charms, treasure trolls, and reserve bingo dobbers will fit with ease, where as, in the double cab Mrs Ella Mae wouldnt be able to bring her photo albums of all her children's children and great grand nieces.

A double cab is limited to just manly things.
Its kinda a trade off but its all just personal preference in the end.

    Edit: auto correct, you bastard!

I'll assume you meant "manly" instead of "mainly" but what would you consider manly cause I think I've covered those bases even though I own a crewmax

Just as I thought "auto correct" knew me! Its like it enjoys being cruel to me.

So, now that I'm done blaming auto correct...
Im only criticizing the DC due to its limited ability to do things that fall outside the field of "manly" stuff.

We've made it to the point in the thread where we are assured that if we get a CC, Hooters girls will be climbing through the back windows. This usually indicates the thread has gone through the infancy and adolescence stages and has reached maturity. The slow decline is imminent.

It's such a personal preference, just depends what they need their trucks for. No wrong answer.
Personally, I was sold as soon as I went to the dealership to first compare Tundras vs Tacomas (way too small for me), the DC vs CM. I decided to go with the CM because I knew I was going to use the rear seats more than the bed. Plus I also love that the seats fold up and rear window goes down like my old 4Runner!

I mostly got a CM because it's a breeze to fit all my dogs:

I don't have a tonneau cover, so it was a nice bonus that my bike fits in the rear seat, in case it ever rains
    [IMG]

1 week into my ownership and I'm thoroughly enjoying this truck!

originally I was looking at DCs but when I first saw a crewmax with reclining rear seats I knew there was no better truck for me. I don't regret my decision at all and I have never found myself needing a longer bed. the roll down rear window is probably the coolest thing about the truck. every time someone new gets in my truck I roll it down and they start freaking out like its the coolest thing in the world. also makes working on the third brake light/cargo light easy. just roll down the window and sit in the open space

ive been here since i had my tundra, this is the first ive seen and i love it. im a DC fan but may just be sour grapes; however i think the DC really is more proportionate - more like a truck less like an explorer sport trac or ridgeline.

i would do dirty things for a DC with sunroof and full roll down rear window with space for a sub behind my seat. (but i wouldnt trade my underseat storage)

With being a carpenter, hauling lumber, building supplies, ive never had an issue with my CM. Most of your building supplies are 8-10 ft lengths. The CM bed is easily long enough to handle that. And if i need 12 ft lengths i will put my tailgate down and strap it in. I also have the option to fit large expensive tools in the back seat if need be without any hassle while the bed is loaded up. But its also a comfortable family vehicle when need be as well. Coming from someone whos 6'5, i can sympathize with anyone whos ever had to squeeze into tiny backseats and say they feel great when asked. Not in my CM!

I have a CM with a Leer canopy. I wish the bed was longer, but when I buy lumber I just roll down the rear window and take out the front canopy window and pass it through into the cab or put it on the roof. Easy enough.

A lot fewer people ask me to help them move with the shorter bed and canopy so that's got to count for something.
