I opted for the double cab due to Being able to sleep in the bed under a shell. I like the room of CM but for my purposes the DC was better suited. And coming from a Tacoma the DC rear seat is still more spacious than the Tacoma.

What’s there to convert? You just fold down your back seats and throw on a full size mattress. Oh wait, you CM guys can’t fold down your seats, huh?? So you have to build something to sleep back there. ;)

Really? The fact that the rear door is almost as long as the bed looks good to you? That the designers looked at the Ford Explorer Sport Trac for dimension ratios is fine? Looks more like a Subaru Baja than a useful truck.

DC all day. Need the bed space for more gear while out camping in the middle of nowhere. Just me and the wife with two dogs. No kids..... Yet. Still enjoying our youth. Looks more proportional. 22551C14-81EF-4BBD-AEAF-E7C37523699C.jpg

I opted for the Double Cab since the only way I can have kids is to adopt and I wanted the higher payload and towing capacities. I also didn't know you could fold down the Backs seats of the double cab good to know @joonbug thanks.

I guess my opinion is wrong. Who would have thought. Also, don't need a minivan; already have a 3-row vehicle my wife drives.

I needed a vehicle to haul bmx bikes, dirt bikes and gear, my 2 kids/family, and tow a trailer. Extremely useful if you ask me. But that's my opinion so im wrong of course.

And yes, I think the large rear door looks much better than the squashed, not-well-thought-out Double cab door thing they slapped on the back of the regular cab truck. Actually I think the Tundra cab area (both CM and DC) isn't a great looking truck in general, but I didn't buy the truck for looks. I bought it for function.

    Looks plenty functional to me...

the double cab is only a foot longer. i have never needed it, the fact the whole back window comes down in the crew max has been much more useful to me being able to put long wood planks through, than 10 inches of bed space. i use mine for camping and i get 4 bikes back there and close tail gate.
much more comfortable for 2 kids and a dog also.
im sure the guys that have real beds 8 foot laugh at the 6.5 in the same way

Mines a work truck so six and a half feet bed was the minimum I could get away with to hold my tools. Back seat is fold up to make way for coolers and gear. Mines not a mall truck so DC for the win

I just move my front seats up and throw an air mattress on the floor.
Dogs sleeps on the floor and I get the seat.

I can also load all my gear on the floor while the dogs use that as well as the seat for a comfy ride to the next area.

DC's always out do CM's on crash tests. Look it up. DC's are safer for hauling kids apparently .

i get that. mine is normally what you would call a mall truck that doubles as a tow vehicle with kids and dog. 4x4 on the beach and tree stand hunting gear under tonno cover during hunting season. crew cab is the perfect vehicle for me.i guess if they made a 6.5 crew cab id buy that

There is a place for both depending on your needs. Obviously, because they both sell good.
I use my truck as the family vehicle so my 6'4" son and 5'11" daughter fits in the back very comfortable on road trips. DC would have worked, but much tighter. Although I use my truck for work, it is not a 'work truck' in the sense of loading stuff in the back; I go to construction sites to monitor progress etc. and hardly ever load tools or materials - we have company work trucks for that. So, CM works better for me.
The only thing I don't like about the DC is that weird rear door handle that doesn't match the front. WTF?

Nope its a stock 8' bed. Around here I see alot of them but I do here they are not as popular in some areas. My truck is a sr5 not sure if they made any in any other packages.

On other thing I like about my DC is if my 4 yr old son drops something amd cant get to it because he is in a car seat. I can usually reach it while stoped at a stop light where I dont think I could in a crew max.

I've always had full size beds in my Tacoma's. I'd like to get a DC Tundra but it's impossible to find one with the options I want. My wife insists on the BSM. Maybe they'll offer them on more 2020 models.

It looks nothing like any of those shitty vehicles you referenced. It’s not close to a minivan and I am certainly not one to care what others think.
I think the CM looks good. So do the majority of Tundra buyers because they are by far the most common. I don’t need a large bed but I want a bed. I also like a lot of cabin space for my dog and kids.
I think they both look good. I own a CM but when someone does a DC right I think they look awesome. @Jimes truck above looks badass.

Mmm, yep...short bed looked untruck-like when I was shopping. Toyota coulda' just chopped a Sequoia behind the rear doors, made the roll-down rear window huge, put some plastic sails behind the cab and called it a Tundralanche. :D
