New Tundra owner here, and for just rotating tires and such, my existing hydraulic jack worked fine when lifting my GMC, but it is struggling when lifting this truck.

So.... What's a good hydraulic jack to get.....?....and what ton lift capacity..?

I have a 40 year old Mac 2 ton, a Harbor Frieght 3 ton and a Hein Werner 2 1/2 ton floor jack. The Hein Werner which I paid $400.00 for is a piece of junk. Leaks, no stroke on the handle. Nice when the jack is way under the back of a truck but the old Mac Tools jack is my go to 99% of the time.

I LOVE my Harbor Freight hand-me-down floor jack. I can't help but think the new ones are lots better than this antique I've been using.
It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.

I have a 2 ton steel Harbor Freight jack. Works great. Gotta be almost 10 years old now. It lifts my truck, but struggles with my 3/4 ton Chevy.

I also have the 1.5 ton aluminum jack that always in the coupons. I think it was $60. It barely lifts my Crown Vic. I doubt it really can lift 3000lbs, but it's a lot easier to drag around than my steel jack. If you're working on something lighter, it's great.

What's the rating of your current jack? I'd say get a 3 ton HF jack.

Snap-on sued HF because one of their jacks was a direct copy...then had to drop the suit when it turned out it was the same jack lmao

I got a 3 ton one from Harbor Freight. It has served me well for the price. Used it to lift 4runner, Sequoia, Sienna, BMW X5

That's a really nice low profile floor jack that will work on a sedan with little ground clearance and a taller Tundra, too. The price is right as well.

Now buy a rubber pad that goes in place of the metal pad. Or I bought a couple of pinch weld pads. It protects the welded ridge that you put your jack under.

What did you end up with? I’m in need of a jack and jack stands too.

Been thinking about picking up a Daytona just because the extra 3 inches it lifts would be all I need for my wheel cradles.... And with that a Pittsburg 3 ton low profile(that's everyone I know uses and never have problems)

I have the older version of that one...it's pretty much the same but rated at 2.5 ton. It lifts my Tundra fine. It's probably around 7-8 years old and I like the low profile design because it fits under my lowered cars and corvette.

I had to buy one a few weeks ago as the old bottle jacks I had been using wouldnt get high enough to lift the Tundra off the ground safely, plus they wouldnt fit under my better halfs Camry. I bought a Torin Big Red off of Amazon. Works well for the 3 times I have used it.

Do you need the long reach HF jack or how high do you need to lift the truck? I have a Pro so my front is a little taller than normal. Seems like when I measured it when I rotated my tires, I would need the long reach jack for the extra height, but it is more expensive.

    Please don't scream at me.

I'm in the market. What lift range do I need with a 3 inch lift on 35s

I know floor jacks are expensive, which is why most guys here have been talking about Harbor Freight jacks - cause they’re much cheaper. I’m not preaching, but just please be careful. Most people know this but always always always use jack stands before getting under a vehicle. Never ever trust just the floor jack to hold the vehicle - especially a cheap Harbor Freight.

I had a Harbor Freight floor jack and jack stands for years and was always leery about them. Then HF had their recent safety recall. My stands weren’t in the recall but I got rid of them anyway. Same with the floor jack - what little confidence I had in it went to zero so got rid of it & blew 500 bucks for a Hein Warner jack. Ouch. But when it comes to my life, I’m not cheaping out anymore.

    My 2 cents.

Also, I mentioned this in the HF jack stand recall thread....if you have an iPhone, always keep it near you when under a vehicle. I’ve read a couple news articles over the years where someone got pinned under a vehicle & no one was around to help. They couldn’t reach their phone, but it was close enough where they were able to yell, “Hey Siri, call 911” and it saved them. Gulp! Be safe! ;)

HF Jack stand recall thread for those interested & haven’t seen it:

Just an FYI..Hein Werner jack stands are made in America, available on Amazon and half the price of those

edit: just looked and they may no longer be made in America. Mine are but they were purchased a while ago

If they’re the same as their floor jacks, the parts are mostly made overseas, but assembled in America. Not the same as made in USA, but close (hopefully). I actually couldn’t find a fully USA-made floor jack. Hein Warner was the closest I could find. :/
Those “US Jack” brand jack stands, though, are fully USA-made (the only ones I could find that are). Which is why they’re so expensive.
