Wow, you don't put miles on your truck! That worked out for you.

Carvana offered me $44,567 for my 2019 Off Road Crew Cab with 17k miles on it. That's with me admitting I have oversized tires and whatnot on it. I paid $40,000 OTD for it in August of 2019...

It makes no sense at all. My wife is like “you are gonna do what?” And when I showed her the numbers she gets it.

I’ve been working from home for over 6 years. The only real miles is running back and forth to my kids out of town sporting events. I had full intentions on keeping this truck until it dies but what I’m getting for it they paid me to drive it for 2 years.

    I am looking though!

I’m in VA and actually had my eye on one at L&S Toyota in Beckley that sold before I could even see it.

Just curious I wanted to see what my older higher mileage 2010 would get me at Carvana. 2010 Crewmax SR5 2WD with 217,600 miles and Carvana is offering $10,050. Even if I was serious no thank you. :)

The used car prices are going to continue to climb. The chip shortage is bringing some manufacturers to a screeching halt and nobody knows when it will get better.

Carvana values newer, low mileage cars way higher.

You will have the equity until this market returns to normal which it will some day. You could sell or trade in August and take the gain but you have to turn around and buy something.

It’s just a fun fact for a bit. I’m keeping this truck for a while! I can’t justify the cost of switching trucks all the time and paying dealer fees and sales tax.

I sold my sons ‘17 4-banger Taco after 3yrs. Thought I ripped off the dealer back then and got a great starter truck for $23k. Put 20k miles on it. Dealership gave me $23k (no haggling) so we basically got to use it for 3 years for only gas, insurance and registration. Got him a ‘21 4Runner to take to college.

So many delays ahead with semiconductor shortages that will cascade into everything we use. These Trucks are filled with them inside everything.

Yeah this market is really effed up now that some of you guys are getting more $$$$ for your 1-2 year old trucks than what you paid for them. Sedan prices are kind of down, I paid about half of what that Lexus went for new in 2014.

My biggest regret out of all of this was selling my 1993 Toyota pickup, 2wd, 22-RE 4 cylinder, 5 speed, reg cab, 170k miles, bought it off a friend in 2010 for $600. It had been hit in the front and was beat to hell body wise but had no rust, broke a/c, sold it with a leaky water pump for $1,000 in 2018. In the past 5 years it had new front brakes, new clutch, new tires, ran like a new truck. Really wish I had spent the $$$ to fix the water pump and kept it, but I had the big Tundra, so off it went.

Doubt I will, cant replace it.

I contacted my sales guy about it, asked him what would they give me in trade he said he would get a offer together on monday when he is back at the dealership.

I sent him a copy of the carvana offer. He did tell me he the offer wont be that high, which I know.

He forewarned me Rich, I cant any more tundras and everything is slowing down as well, think long and hard about this one.

    I know I told him.

That’s the kicker...it’s hard to replace them. Just like the housing market. I’d love to sell my house but there’s nothing out there and for anything that is even remotely available, it’s way over priced.

Yep, it’s like that here as well. We’d love to sell our house to get a bigger one and know we can sell ours quickly, but our realtor has warned us that no one will take a contingency since we have to sell ours, and all of the new home builders have jacked their costs up due to supply costs so it’s near impossible to take advantage of it. She told us that inventory is so low here that if we listed it, guaranteed we’d have multiple offers above asking. New build homes comparable to ours are nearly double what we bought ours for just 5 1/2 years ago. It’s nuts!

Wow... I’ve driven a whopping 400 miles since buying my truck in December.

Reading about all of these dealers charging 5-10k over MSRP for TRD Pro’s makes me wonder if I should check into making a profit since it isn’t getting much use... LOL
