It's not ideal. See this thread for more detail on that. I would stick to stock wattage with stock wires. A harness is not difficult to install nor overly expensive. Also, some good stock wattage bulbs are still out there.

i’ve done a few incandescent hondas upgrades on 3 vehicles this year.

the 9005 to 9011hir (highs) and 9006 to 9012hir (lows) and great in reflector houses all are same wattage.

i’ve done a h11 to h9 in a projector that was 55w to 65w an the light is only slightly better. the housing does get warmer but not melty. thing i’ll try supernovas v4 x which is there newest in that projector next to see how it goes. if its to bright then they might goe in the fog housing which takes the same h11/h8. good to have options..

Thanks for the quick responses. That's good to keep in mind and continue doing more reading. I remember looking through that thread and it does have good info.

Ordered exactly what @KNABORES ordered and am going to give it a shot. My headlights are garbage at the moment. Between these and the light bar I have to install in the front bumper cutout hopefully I'll be able to see a bit better.

Still happy with my upgrade. Having clear headlight lenses is also important.

I cleaned mine using the Chrisfix method. They aren't perfectly clear but they aren't too bad either.

Installed headlight harness and new bulbs and 9012's in the fog lights today. Thought having an 01 I wouldn't have any issues but that isn't the case.
Not sure if you had any issues @KNABORES with your 2000.
If I turn on headlights and fog lights once I turn on my hi beams they will not turn off without turning my headlights off an on again. Or turning just the fog lights off and on again. If I don't run my fog lights at all then there is no issue. Going to have to get a resistor for the passenger side headlight plug.
Would like to run the lowest wattage resistor possible but not yet sure what that is.

any time fog light mod fixes this issue. the problem is how the high beam is wired to the fog light. the fog light switch is powered by the high beam wire when the low beams off. when your highbeam is on, the wire goes to ground which kills the fog lights.

resistor will work or any time fog light mod.

Only thing about anytime fog light mod is that I don't want to have to hit my fog light switch every time I turn my lights on or off. Otherwise I'll be driving around in the day time with just my fog lights on (which I understand isn't a big deal I just don't want to mess with it). Guess it could be possible to grab the power from something in the parking light circuit so they would only work if your parking lights or headlights were on.

My lights worked just like they always had after the harness and fog light upgrade. No issues with fog / high beam functions.

I have the same issue as you. Fogs on, high beams will turn on but won't turn off. Only by turning off the fogs do the high beams turn off.

Does anyone know of any company that makes brackets for fitting 3 inch fogs in the round fog holes of 1st gens? The factory fogs aren't great. I would like some brackets if available or I'll probably end up retrofitting some mini projectors inside factory fogs.

One day perhaps @memario1214 can hook us first gen people up with the oval/round options for mounting brackets.

Though @Diode Dynamics really could do us a solid directly :)

from a cost vs return point of view, i believe it would be a hard sell for as rare as these trucks really are... even though i'd be a buyer

I wish there were some drop in LED projector fogs for us. I think I'm gonna order a set of mini bi-led projectors from the slow boat in Ghina and retrofit some cheap stock fog replacements. Not sure how long it'll take but I don't want to just throw LED bulbs in the stock fogs. I don't want to create too much glare. I like sharp cut-offs and I can even wire the bi-led for a nice quad high beam with my main D2S 5.0 projectors.

Projectors in your fogs? Fog lights were meant to be just that. Low shining lights that illuminate the road lines and the area immediately in front of the vehicle below the fog layer to increase visibility when your normal head lights would reflect off of the fog layer. We don’t get a lot of fog where I live (ironically foggy this morning) so I mostly like the look of fogs, but they do fill in the area immediately in front of the truck with light and give a little bit of ditch illumination.

Yeah not much fog in my neck of the woods either. The main projectors give off plenty of light for me.

I'll say the Baja Designs Squadron DAT lights work great for fog lights. I have the amber ones and they are amazing for fog and snow.

Anyone have a suggestion for a resistor to order for installing the upgraded harness in a DC? The link in the OP doesn't go anywhere anymore.

Also, any thoughts on this price for a new pair of OEM headlights? Seems like a decent deal, as most of what I've seen quoted here has been $400+. Thinking even if I go the restore route for now it wouldn't hurt to have the new pair on hand for when I decide to replace. Seems a lot of people who restore end up wanting to replace in the end anyways.

Not sure if a resistor is needed for an 05 Access cab..?

But if so anyone have an answer to his query? I'm not very electrically inclined so I have no idea what to look for and as mentioned link in OP no worky

The headlight upgrade mentioned in the OP?

I'm ordering the harness that is linked
I'm ordering the bulbs that are linked
I don't know if resistors are needed(?) but if they are the link in OP doesn't work so I don't know what to get

Gotcha. Careful, don't quote me on this, but I don't think you need resistors with the harness upgrade unless you do the LED bulbs. I think that's the purpose of the harness and relays. Let's see if someone else chimes in to verify my statement.

I used the harness upgrade from headlight services. It's super well-made and the guy was great to work with. After reading the reviews on the Amazon harness linked above, I didn't want to risk a fire with that one.

Well crap, already ordered the Amzn one lol. I didn't see any reviews talking about stuff melting/burning, did I miss it? I don't plan on LED's so will hold of on resistors for now.

    Thanks!

uh, check the reviews on Amazon. I saw some that referenced wiring being too small. Luckily, Amazon accepts returns.

This is what worked for me. I only needed one, which I'm seeing now is available on there as well but is advertised for a motorcycle. Appears to be the same thing.
