if it's similar or the same to what i know about surfboards, you shouldn't have any problem.

Not much required as far as tools. The boat repair guys that taught me often use a Makita da3000r fitted with a roloc grinding discs for prep. Makita doesn't make 'em anymore and you've gotta find 'em used but it's an incredibly handy tool.

A nice metal, bubble roller, a sander and you're pretty much set.

If I get a winch on my 2WD, can I overland with the BASTRDs and SGU?!
I only met him once but I love Jimmy. He's friendly and easy-going, has made his son his side-kick and keeps him close, plus he knows how to do everything!

New topic: Alex, next time you have time (I dunno, don't you catch a cold once every other year, like the rest of us? ;)), will you please transfer all your original truck build info and pics from TundraTalk over to here? I made my way through the first 3 chapters, although not able to view pics unless I join the forum. I don't want to join that forum which, by all accounts, has gone the way of flip-phones and 26's :D. Plus, that promise you made in paragraph 18 of Chapter 3... definitively need pics to get those results . I really need to see photos :angrygirl:.

Anyway, somehow I got shut out before I could finish chapter 4. Whenever I try, I get routed to join up. Can you help??

haha! I was going to transfer everything over before I even started this thread, but I would have to search and upload every picture individually. Then place each one in the correct spot. My guess is several hours of work

Why don't you just join the forum?? They won't spam you or anything and you don't have to post there. You should see how many forums I belong to that I never use

Hmmn. What about flip-phones and 26" and moving with the times? :D

(First I'll try again from another location, see if I can "beat" the lock-out with another IP address.)

LOL! Trust me, I moved on from that forum. That why I'm here. But it would seriously be a lot of work to transfer the pics. The text will transfer easily, but I have a thousand pictures scattered on my hard drives that I would have to search through

Okay. The story's cool though; worth it if you can do it. It is a good read for anyone (like me) who wants to live vicariously through the first years, and use your experiences to figure out where to skip the "first" mod and save up for the "right" mod. Your build is a great reference for the 'build once and right' 'buy once, cry once' groupie.

trust me. if i could justify the upgrade to 27.5, i'd be all over it. my sb66 serves me well for the trails i ride and the 303rdh handles the rough stuff at keystone, as well as the flow/jump trails at winter park, just fine. the 303 is a little on the heavy side and dated but it's a fun bike to ride. with the hand surgeries the past few months, i've only gotten 1 DH day in this summer but, winter park is open for another few weeks so maybe i'll be able to sneak in another day.

Hey man I totally understand! My first bike was a 29er hard tail and I rode the piss out of it. Its just like trucks, it doesn't mater what set up you have as long as you can drive. Same with bikes. If you can ride you can ride

    run what you brung homie

ha. my favorite bike ever was a single speed 29er hard tail. i shouldn't have sold it. so much fun to ride. i'd like to build another but there's already 4 bikes in the garage, 3 pairs of skis, 2 paddle boards and 3 surf boards. and the truck...

i've been off the dh bike for so long, i need to start making some visits to valmont to get comfortable again in the air.

Researching last night I came upon a post of yours in TT but it was a little cryptic and I couldn't quite glean the answer. But you don't have spacers for the RW wheels?

The problem for me is that if I bring my truck down there I'll just want to wheel and drink beer the whole time LOL I have to keep my MTB and truck trips separate. Maybe I'll get a case and fly in

Hahaha! It was as though I called you in here! I'd just read in some other thread that you rock a flip phone. I almost replied to that, but the conversation had moved on, so I let it go.

I have a G'zOne. And another one unopened on the shelf. Both orange. :)
