We intended to spend two nights near Glacier. However, having done what we did in two days, and knowing that the next day would have been a 12 hour drive day (with a camper, you know that means more like 16), we decided to eat and then take off.

We left later that afternoon, evening time to our last spot. We grabbed sleep at a truck stop half way, and the next day arrived in Bismarck, ND. By this time, we are all tired. It was great to stay in the campground and do nothing for the afternoon.

That night, we fell asleep and then started our next to last journey home. Driving from Bismarck to just inside the Indiana Border, we stopped at a small town and grabbed a hotel. It was needed for the showers, and actual beds.

From there we drove from Indiana, through OH, down into WV, PA, MD, back into WV then home.

I hope you all enjoyed the picture trips, and I would love to answer any questions anyone may have.

As I have posted before, we have since decided we are going to sell our camper (kids got too big for the beds) and are going into tent camping. We will be sharing more adventures, I am sure, but from a different perspective.

    It was a great summer!!!!

But I do wish to post one more thing.

    CONTEST:

Ok, I have the two patches, and I am extending the contest till this Friday!!!! All the rules are listed above, and I am just re-iterating the two points:

    1. What was the highest elevation WE hit (not the highest on the route)?
    2. How many miles total did we drive?

Two patches are up for grabs, and I will end this on Friday before I close my office down for the day! I look forward to hearing your guesses and I look forward to shipping these out!

Have a great rest of the week everyone and thank you for following our journey.

    The contest is over!!!

Thank you all for watching and following along. I shall now reveal all the details.

Our average MPG, going through all we did was 10.4 MPG. This was amazing considering we were towing and the height and travel we were doing.

We averaged anywhere between 63-70 MPH traveling, usually sitting around 67 MPH.

    1. Our greatest elevation we hit! 8,914 ft. This was done in Yellowstone, and where the Buffalo was taken a picture at was on that overlook. it was the same overlook with the truck itself. Around the area was a trail that we could hike and we hiked up a little higher so as to get a better view.

    2. The total miles we drove was! 6,945 Miles!

In essence, we traveled almost 7K miles, across 23 states in 21 days! It was a whirlwind trip, but was absolutely amazing! There are so many beautiful places in our country and I enjoyed seeing the ones we did and could see.

We are now finishing out our summer. Our last trip was back up north, through Maine, into Canada, and finally stopping for five days or so in Prince Edward Island.

We did a fast drive up to PEI, so no pics in Maine going. Will have some coming.

We are shifting from camper to tents, and the truck did awesome! On the round about trip, we made almost 20 MPG avg.

Getting to the island, the first order of business was to set up the camp.

We did spend a lot of time on the beach, and it was beautiful for sure. Not hot, warm. Water was comfortable. We also did some exploring of the local area we were at. We were near Cavendish, North Rustico, and a few others that I cannot remember.

There were some boaters near the shore, and was able to catch a shot that I liked.

We did drive about an hour out to a light house. The road to the light house was just a dirt path that looked like someones driveway. We were not sure it was where we were supposed to go, but we just went for it, and it was worth it!

The light houses were different than the ones in Maine, so we were a little shocked at the size of them comparatively. But the views in the area were beautiful! Below are just a few pictures, and I may put more out on the picture of the day thread.

We also spent time at Montgomery's farm and for those who don't know, as I didn't, this was the farm that the author, Montogomory was inspired by to write Ann of Green Gables. So there was some neat history here. I was going to get pics, but the house was small, and it was all I could do to keep from running into anything or hitting my head on the ceiling, LOL!

Another day at the beach, and it was vastly different. It was very windy!

One of the last pictures I took was on bluff overlooking part of the island as we were heading to the campsite. The picture was so neat to see but then when I saw this with the sun the way it was, I had to grab that one for sure. Pictures, sadly, does not do it justice. I used two different lenses, and tried to keep it as natural (without filters or effects) as I could.

Then it was time to head home. We did leave a couple days early, and stopped for an extra day in Maine. We went to Colony Beach, and also Fort Foster Beach. Here are some pics of this area that we took:

    Fort Foster:

The tower above, and the land in the second is all that is left of the original hotel that sat here. It was eventually torn down because when the fort was built, people went there instead of the hotel.

The old fort, is now just small fragments, but off the forts coast sits an old light house

The light sits off the house island by a distance, and it was so neat to catch the light at different angles, but also with some of the boats and ships going by. Here are a few pics:

Probably my favorite pic in this set is this one:

From there we went to Colony beach. Here are a few pics. The beach is more of a boat marina, so the beach areas are not as big, so I didn't get as many pics here.

Just across from the beach is an impressively large hotel. I've not been here, but it does not look cheap!

One of the last things I took a pic of was a jet boat that was doing tours. Looked like fun, but didn't have time to do it this trip.

    DSC_0118.jpg

For this last trip, we were about 2,456 miles round trip, and averaged about 19.5 MPG traveling between 70-75 MPH, and then 20-110 KMH.

    What we learned traveling:

KMH sounds fast, but is a little slower than MPH.

Canadian food, from restaurants and processed, is so much better than here in the US! Upon coming home, we have revamped our entire diet now to go more healthy and watching all the additives.

The gas is more expensive! On PEI we were paying 147.9 or $1.47 per liter. That comes to about $5.47 per gallon!!!!! When we crossed over and saw $3.09 per gallon, we were so happy!

It was a great trip, and a lot of memories were made. Looking forward to now resting and getting back into a flow of life and getting work done.

From Maine we made a beeline home. While it was a lot of fun, and this summer was absolutely one of the best!

It is also good to be home.
