I love your build and mine will hopefully look close when I'm done! i dont remember you mentioning any cutting to accommodate your tires - is that correct? any plans for a winch or onboard compressor ? I couldnt decide between 33 and 35s - these tires look PERFECT!

I'll chime in since he is enjoying T2S, he is running 295/70r18 Falken WildPeak AT3W.

Thanks! Definitely steal whatever ideas you want - I stole them from others already, lol.

As far as modifications to get the wheel/tire combo to fit, I ended up removing the front mudflaps and pushing the bumper plastics forward. I did hack up the plastics more than I wanted, but it’s not really something you see so it’s not a big deal. This is a great write up from @Netmonkey on massaging the plastics: https://www.tundras.com/threads/trimming-front-bumper-liner-and-mudflaps.63755/

I don’t know that I’ll ever do a winch, but funny enough I just smoked my portable compressor this weekend and am looking at my options for a longer term solution. OBA is definitely on the table, but that’s a lot of money to spend without having airbags or anything else that would need it. I’ll probably just pick up a nicer portable with a good duty cycle and call it a day.

I got mine from a vendor on here a couple years ago, but he's not making them anymore. I think there are some threads from others that have bought off eBay and Etsy more recently. I'll see if I can find a post for a positive review.

Picked up a set of deflators and a new air compressor for the trails
    85629B60-951B-479C-A9A3-D85170EEDCAF.jpg

Tried it out today, getting the deflators dialed in and seeing how quick the compressor would get me back to normal road pressures
    AB3421B3-4BDD-4CE1-BFD5-CBE1A1EC2F1E.jpg

The deflators worked great, all dialed in to 16-17 psi, and the compressor got all the tires back to 35 psi in no time. But - that compressor gets HOT AF, which I found out accidentally when the edge of my hand hit the metal next to the piston tower. I immediately dropped the compressor and bent the nipple :(
    99AF1658-81F1-46D9-9659-C034BA8E2F12.jpg

Pulled the fitting off and found that I completely blew out the aluminum sleeve that runs inside the handle.
    9DF833AD-E035-44C0-9007-BFB2EEE1D13D.jpg

I took the top end apart and was able to get everything snugged up and back to round, sort of, and looks like it should work for now. But I’ll need to replace those pieces at some point. Luckily the fitting that connects to the head is standard pipe thread, so it should be easy to find replacement parts at the hardware store.

Moral of the story, don’t be an idiot like me and break your nice, new compressor less than 24 hours after you get it. Maybe wear gloves. Maybe just keep your hand away from the branding iron next to the handle.

Funny I just busted out my VIAIR 400 for the first time today too. Worked like a charm. Was only doing my MIL’s van tire so it didn’t get warm at all. It always sucks to damage something brand new. I gave my 21 Platinum a nice pinstripe from our bush while backing it into the driveway the day I brought it home. Didn’t get too upset but it’s always a bummer on something new.

That first pinstripe/scratch always sucks - especially when it’s doing mundane stuff like putting it away lol. Did you end up leaving it as a badge of honor or fix it? I worked pretty hard to get my pinstripes out after my first off road trip, but 3 years later I just leave them.

Planning on mounting it and possibly running air lines, but we’ll see. Having it portable for now means I can let others use it if needed… which means I should definitely mount it, haha.

I left it for now. I’m eventually going to correct it before I apply Griots 3in1. With how soft and thin I keep hearing our paint is, I’m not super eager to remove clear coat.

Lol, I keep pushing back my Griots 3-1 application too because I’m planning on doing a mini paint correction first. But then I keep adding more scratches…

What do you do when your expensive aftermarket head unit that is out of warranty keeps randomly freezing on you? Add a switch inline with its accessory power feed, duh. I had been using a pin to push the reset button on the faceplate, but I got tired of clearing my “favorites” page under settings and resetting the clock every time I did that. Doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a pain in the ass. Now I can just power cycle it and be back in business.

Found a local guy unloading his used Falken Wildpeak AT3w’s in the same size I’m running, 295/70R18. I really only wanted one for a spare, but after bullshitting a bit and giving him the idea to keep one for himself, he basically gave me the other 3 for what I was wanting to pay for one. Now I just need to get it mounted up and I’ll be ready to go for the next off roading trip. And I’ll have two to post up for free for anyone local.

Noticed my high quality $35 eBay special radar garnish for my Pro grille was starting to delaminate… then I started getting PCS errors, even after taking it apart and applying fresh adhesive.
    DD488FFE-D960-495C-AC7C-8256E59DF676.jpg

I still had my old 3D printed garnish from Ares sitting around, but it had a busted stud. Some quick epoxy on that and we’re back in business, no errors.
    1388F977-3B39-4AEC-901E-D9C2C4C1122E.jpg

I didn’t grab a pic of it installed today, but this is one from a while back. Not a huge fan of the gray slab, but it’s always been functional for me.

Had to fight with the tire guides more than planned, but the full size spare is up under the truck. Hopefully I never need to use it. That thing is HEAVY.

This happens to me all the time too. If you depress the power/volume knob for 3 seconds, it resets the head unit.

Yep, that seems to be what works for the stock head unit. Doesn’t work on my Pioneer unfortunately. One of these days I’ll swap it for something newer/bigger/shinier, but the switch puts a bandaid on the only real issue I have with it right now.

What's the secret to easily remove or modify the tire guides? Both myself and @DuneShoot need to get our 295/70/18's up there and we both have the wider coachbuilder shackles to get around as well.

An 8 lb sledge and a moderate amount of pent up anger worked for me… I can’t help much on how it’ll work with you shackles, but it looks like there’s plenty of room with my stock ones.

I did try drilling and grinding off the heads of the rivets to just remove the guides completely, but could never get the head to pop.

Okay, thanks. I'm going to try and tackle mine this weekend. Original plan was to drill the rivets out, but that seems to be a chore and not easily accomplished. Other ideas were to use a sawzall and cut the ears of the brackets off and debur the edges or as you mentioned pull out the BFH and go to town. We'll see how it goes.

Bought the Tundra some Christmas gifts. We’ll see if the CFO lets me install them before then, though…
