Thank you. I’ve been picking away for almost 3 years now. Averaged out my repair/overhaul cost since Aug 2018 and its right around $230/mo. which is better than $600+ for a new truck.

Not much left to do to her at this point except enjoy.

Y'all will get a laugh/cry at this. I had my leaking rear wheel seals replaced finally at the beginning of the year. One week later after having brake issues and the seal still leaking, the truck quit pulling, but would pull in 4 wheel. The dang axle had come out 6 inches! After taking it back, it was still leaking. Pulled it myself and found out that he tack welded the bearing on so it wouldn't come off again!

This morning pre-ignition. I wonder what was the Ambient Temp?:D

Bottom pic is after 20 miles straight highway drive time. Transmission Temps seem 15-20° higher with the Derale Valve.

Started out the morning spending about 1.5 hours playing Hand Jujitsu with the Fuel Pump Connector. Tried all kinds of angles and tools and finally got it with a simultaneous combo of needle nose (Tab Presser) and blunt long screw driver (Pry Tool). She was locked on pretty good from 20 years on road time.

Jumped over to the Fuel Filter to replace it as the day was slipping away and man she was unable to hold the gas back at the new threads. Reached deep into my stuff found on the street corner years ago and gotter dun with some special thread tape. This is a Toy OEM Fuel Filter w/Bracket and some reviewers complained about leaks. I remember a few members here having the same issue and ended up getting frustrated taking it to a shop or buying another brand. The Yellow Thread Tape is Golden! Ended up blowing 3 hours on the filter but with success! Lots of fuel dripping the entire time.

Circled back to the earlier prep done on Fuel Tank Drop and buttoned her back up for another day. I’ve got the Mojo dialed in on her with the jack, the connections to unhook, and basic plan for hopefully a fast install next go around.

Old filter brand? cut open with 30k miles. Some brown schtuff squeezed out of it.

This is a great thread. Bought a 2006 with a 120k miles on it last year, and want to slowly rebuild and fix what I can and drive it as long as I can . This was encouraging to read. Nice work sir

Still waiting on the proper time to do the Denso Fuel Pump Install as preventative maintenance.

Tool’d around on the truck today. Got her washed and AeroSpace 303’d.

Sealed off a few holes from engine bay that connect with the Filter Box Intake Chamber to stop hot bay air from infiltrations. Swapped in new Denso Made in USA filter replacing the STP China. Big difference in feel and look. Old filter had about 20k on it.

Removed side Emblems and spray painted them with the same Aluminum DupliColor as used on the wheels done last year. Clear Coat finished things off. Toying with the placement options if they are reinstalled.

Yeah. I put the SR5 back on in their normal spots on rear doors. I’m leaving it like that for now. No pics yet, but I like it with the fresh paint.

Kinda leaning towards cutting off the small Toyota part away from the larger TUNDRA on the side emblems then putting back just the small Toyota section to match the same look on the front grill and rear tailgate.

No big rush to make a decision.

Thank you! Best teacher I ever had was the toughest one at the time which was no fun! Found out he later got ousted from the System because he was too tough. When I say tough, he actually challenged your intellect to make you better. The panty waists cried about 10 years into his career overlap into the millennial generation so he said screw it! Started a grass cutting business from what I heard and is happy.

Anyways, guy left a good impression years down the road.

Got the 4 new bolts/nuts on with success. Bolts are good, but the nuts worn thin! My Flanges Matings are a little gnar gnar around the fronts/tops so a few weeks ago I cleaned them up and put a ring of the High Temp Gasket Maker. Holding nicely.

Shpray’d it all up with Rustolem BBQ Paint for finish matching and then hit the rest of the exhaust again since was in there. That exhaust paint job has held nicely for two years (see earlier post #10) from almost 2 years ago.

Is there not enough slack in the harness to undo connector on fuel pump to drop the tank slightly? Getting ready to change mine also. Also prepping to change the steering rack. Any words of wisdom Great One?

Yes Grasshopper. There is some slack, but I wanted to ensure that the clip could indeed be decoupled prior to taking a gasoline shower laying on my back.

Got her in (Blue Tooth Box for converting OEM Stereo to Streaming Capability). Used the 5+7 Pin Unit for 2002 Tundra. Nothing sexy so no pics of the install. Did use double sided tape on the BT Box Unit and stuck it on top of the CPU behind glove box.

As far as the Phone Mount, the Scosche Elite Unit is pretty nice. Its their strongest magnet. You peel and stick a metal plate on your phone (between the cover and phone in my case) and she stays. Time will tell on the durability of the 3M tape. I choose the dead center mounting to access the knobs on either side of the stereo as well as keeping the CD Button unblocked for toggling in and out of the BT Mode.

I’m keeping my existing XM Receiver in place/hooked up for now to keep my options open if something goes awry. With the XM App, one can get their ‘Xtra’ Stations not available on Antennae so this was my main reason for going this route with BT. Also, Summer Jungle Canopy blocks Sat Signals on a few roads and having the Streaming via LTE will hopefully eliminate this.

BT ($55) plus the Scosche Mag ($20) for a total of around $80 is not bad for an easy plug and play hook up that keeps many options open.

Never did run the charger wire through the Vent as proposed as the BT Box Plug in did not register on my iPhone. I’ll just run a wire down to my Charging Ports on the Pass Side Footwell (18” L wire). Maybe look for a reel up wire set up to keep things clean.

Project Bomba de Gasolinas is a success!

Old Pump was in Spec, but the Gaskets were gnar gnar around the Pump Housing Flange and the Evap thingy. Cleaned up the metal with a file on the tank. FIPG’d the New Rubber Gasket on both sides and the Old Evap Gasket in place (she was locked on and didn’t want to Mangle).

Truck revs in neutral a little different in that it holds the rev a little longer when letting off the pedal. When driving, there is a slightly better response.

Inside of tank looked nice and shiny. Glad I did this job to stop that rust and seal up the gaskets a little better. Took about 4.5 hours total. Mz PHM only helped to drop/lift the tank via the New Jack Pump (sweet tool) while I balanced the unit with about what looked to be 2 Gallons inside. She started right up and then drove to fill up with 24 Gallons.

Ordered up some JBA Shorty Headers and studied up on the install. Will go into Deep Meditation using Himalayan Breathing Technique. May need to go Full Monk on this one.
