Those very popular in the 1980's in NY, they were used to take people to and from the airports.

Yep, The Electric Cheese Wedge. Different versions sold about 4,000 back in the Disco Era. Some forgetable sci-fi movies were made with them, including "Lathe of Heaven"(Paul Davison) and "Heartbeeps"(Randy Quaid, Andy Kauffman and Bernadette Peters). Here's a clip from the first one where it was used in a chase scene. Top speed - 26 mph. The first version of this car was in violation of fed requirements for a windshield defroster, so they added a dash button labelled "defroster". It lit up when you pressed it, but nothing happened except the button lit up!

Funny you should post about the defroster! The one my friend has actually has a pair of 12vdc Hair Dryers blowing thru little ducts and up to the windshield when needed?!
He told me that and I called him a lying sack of crap and then he showed them to me!
There are a few interesting Wiki about these too and they were born in Sebring Fl where coincidentally I camp every year with the same group for a long time too.

That's hilarious about the blow dryers. How was the government going to test if the defroster worked down in Sebring, FL. Any frost there this morning?
Hey, couldn't you tap into the battery circuit and put in a small window air conditioner, too? You might have to get a 6V one or an inverter.
If your friend uses this hack I want $10!

Its a Pathfinder Tire on a nissan pathfinder wheel. I thought that was kinda funny. The rest of the situation was one of those "how in the hell did ya pull that off" moments.

The scary foreshadowing is that his same fender just got smashed.

Dang. My flux core welds better than that. Heck, that looks like my tack welds when running off an undersized generator that flips the breaker after 1 second.
